Rocket Review
Week of May 16, 2022
Notes from the Principal's Desk
This is the last week with 5 full days of school! The warm weather last week and over the weekend really gave us a taste of summer, yet there is still so much to accomplish in these last weeks of school. Keep working, Rockets! You can do this!
M-Step testing: All official testing dates are completed! Now we have this week to finish any make up tests that need to be completed. All make up testing will need to be completed by the end of the day on Friday, May 20.
Color Run is Thursday, May 26: May 24 is the due date for donations, shout-out purchase, and permission slips. The Color Run will be held Thursday, May 26. As COVID numbers are on the rise, Morgan, like other neighboring schools, will be restricting visitors to ONLY those who are signed up as a volunteer to help with the event. No spectators will be allowed for this event.
Field Day: June 3rd! This is the first Field Day in two years! We missed 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. There is a sign up below for volunteers. Only those who have signed up to volunteer to help with events will be able to attend Field Day. With pandemic numbers creeping up again, there will be no spectators for this event. If you are trying to sign up and it is filled, please let Mrs. Phelan know and you will be placed on a wait list in case there are any last minute volunteer cancellations.
6th Grade Move Up: This will be held on Friday, June 10 in the AM, after students arrive and have attendance taken in classes. Attendance for 6th grade graduation is limited to two people per student due to the increase in COVID numbers. This event is being held indoors (gymnasium) with spacing for seating.
Laptop Chargers: We have a recent increase in lost chargers for laptops. Students are responsible for the charger along with their laptop. This applies to iPads as well. The replacement cost for a laptop charger is $39 for each charger. If a charger is lost, a replacement will be issued to the student and a charge for $39 will be entered in Power School. Checks can be made out to Morgan Elementary to cover the lost charger.
PTO Meeting: TOMORROW starting at 6:30 pm at The Detroit Grille House located on 25 Mile and Shelby. This will be the last PTO meeting for the 2021-2022 school year. Elections will be held to replace the PTO President and Secretary. Please join to hear more about the Color Run, Book Fair success, Field Day, and more!
Breakfast & Lunch for Fall 2022: The federal government will no longer be providing free breakfast and lunch to all students. Starting in the fall of 2022, students will need to purchase a breakfast or lunch (costs to come soon). Families in need can complete a Free/Reduced Lunch application for fall 2022 AFTER July 1, 2022. More information located under the UCS menu below.
The warm weather last week and this weekend has sparked summer shut down already! Please encourage your child to continue to work hard and finish this year strong! Then they have 10 weeks to relax, recharge, and prepare for a new school year in the fall of 2022.
Mrs. Lasky
