Parker Family Update

October 30, 2021

Hello Parker Families,

What an incredible week we just had at Parker! I am happy to report that we raised $847 for the American Cancer Society with our "Wear Pink Wednesday" challenge issued by Mr. Maier & Mr. Conley. Since we surpassed the $500 goal, Mr. Conley will be showing off his new-pink hair on Monday! We also had terrific participation with our 5th Annual Costumes For A Cause event on Friday. Money collected will be tallied on Monday, and all proceeds will go to the Chelmsford Food Pantry. Finally, the Boston 25 "My School Rules!" live-broadcast was incredible! I am confident that your child(ren) came home excited and talking about the experience. Thank you again to all who voted and spread the word to help put Parker on top! I included a few pictures and a link to the videos below. Enjoy!

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read these updates and I will see you again soon.

A.L.I.C.E. Emergency Response

We will be conducting our first A.L.I.C.E. Drill(s) this week. Students and staff have spent some time watching the training video produced by Chelmsford Telemedia, and have reviewed the safety protocols we use in our district. As always, we will be receiving support from the Chelmsford Police and Fire Departments.

The purpose is to help ensure that all students and staff are able to respond effectively in the event for an emergency. Please reach out with any questions you may have.

"Paper" Online Tutoring Support

The district has partnered with "Paper," a 24/7 online tutoring program that is free for all CPS students! This service is staffed with trained, academic experts who will be available anytime to help our students succeed. Students can simply log into Clever on their Chromebook and click the Paper icon for support.

Several Parker teachers have already started to take advantage of this great opportunity, and the reviews are outstanding!

Want to learn more about Paper? Check out this brief promo video or sign up for a parent information session.

After School Clubs & Activities

Our after-school clubs/activities are up and running!

The Activity Card fee is $50 per student. Cash or check made payable to Chelmsford Public Schools should be turned into your child's homeroom teacher along with a completed Non-School Health Directive .

The activity card allows students to take full advantage of any clubs they wish to attend. The after-school activities run from 2:40-3:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the year. Students also have the option of taking a late bus home. The routes are posted in the school and will not be posted publicly. We will work with students and the drivers to be sure kids take the correct bus home. Since we only have 3 late buses, the stops tend to be more spread out that the “regular” bus runs. After activities, students who are not taking a bus will exit the school into the Crooked Spring Road lot and can be picked up there.

*Students who have already paid for Cross-Country are enrolled and do not need to pay an additional $50.

**Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions, or if we can assist with an activity card for your child.

Thank You Parker PTO!

Our Parker PTO continues to be incredibly supportive and involved. Last week, we hosted our annual Book Fair, and the Battle of the Boos event was a hit! In an effort to improve the playground/recess experience for our students, they are also funding the installation of 2 "GaGa Ball" pits for our students. Never heard of it? Check out this video! We are looking forward to these great additions to our playground area.
