Happy Teacher Appreciation Week

Thank you to our teachers and paraprofessionals who dedicate each day to teaching our students and making a difference in the life of a child! Thank you for being great and making JMS a great place to be! Enjoy your week of celebration and appreciation!

Happy School Nutrition Week

Thank you to our great JMS Cafe Team who provides our students and us a wonderful meal every day! We love all the fresh veggies and fruits you prepare for us, but we LOVE your cookies! Thank you for making JMS Great!

Gradebook and Grading

Please make sure you are updating your grades weekly! This is a critical time for students to know their progress and status toward mastery. Please remember to provide ongoing small groups to reteach and reassess learning. Grades are to reflect mastery of AKS and not effort or organizational skills.

Relay for Life

Order your Honey Baked Ham lunch, today! You have 6 boxed lunch options for Friday for only $10.

Don't forget to order your T-shirt for $15 and/or have the name of a loved one on the roster for only $5 per name.

All order forms and money can be provided to Ms. Thelma Armstrong in the 8th grade office.

Local School Council Nominations

We have two parent openings on the council for the upcoming school year. Nomination forms were sent home with report cards. Please turn in any forms to Nakesha Bruno-Brown. If you know of a parent we need to reach out to encourage to apply, please send their contact information to Mrs. Bruno-Brown.

If you are interested in serving as a teacher on the council, please send your name to Nakesha Bruno-Brown this week. Thanks!

8th Grade Celebration and Graduation

We will have an 8th grade celebration on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. The celebration will begin around 12:30 PM until 3:30 PM. We will have an altered schedule on that day with 6th graders going to connections at 9:20 AM and 7th graders going to connections at 10:45 AM. Connections for 8th graders will be during the celebration. We will have a field day type celebration with a variety of outdoor activities and food for the students.

Graduation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 beginning at 9:30 AM in the cafe. At the end of the day, we will dismiss with an 8th grade "final parade" throughout the school. We will provide a published "parade route" and your class can make signs/posters to congratulate our graduates!

Planning on May 17th

We will have two surveys to complete on May 17th: eClass and SAI professional learning. In addition, we will reflect on our eClass journey and identify focus areas for the upcoming school year. Please make sure to meet in the leadership lab during your planning with your laptop.

Post Planning Days

Our post planning days are filled with a variety of tasks such as report cards, permanent records, and RBES presentations. These days are no personal leave days per JMS handbook and GCPS work calendars. Please plan to work 8:15 AM - 4:15 PM on these days. We will have an end of the year grade level meeting on May 2, 2016 during your planning period.

Computer Reimage for Teachers

Did you know Ms. Heinitz can re-image your computer in preparation for summer? Sign up today on the JMS landing page! If you do not make an appointment or miss your appointment, your laptop will be turned in May and picked up during preplanning 2016.

Team Recognition Program

Begin thinking about who you would like to recognize!

Each month, we will recognize team members who exhibit the pillars of Jordan MS: Community, Leadership, and Excellence! Teams can submit up to three names each month. Please include a brief narrative describing how the team member exemplified community, leadership, or excellence. We will celebrate during our vertical team meetings on Fridays!
