Farm to School Newsletter
September 2022
DEAR FAMILIES & FRIENDS:
It is that time of year again already! Going back to school can be an exciting time for students, teachers and parents! We are also delighted to start working with schools again and getting some of that late summer harvest into the hands of students and families! Most of our gardens did well over the summer and we want to express our sincere gratitude towards those families and individuals who helped out by volunteering in a school garden. Gardens require time and attention and we know everyone is busy, so we are so grateful to those who see the value and potential in supporting their school's garden.
In August, we finished our last two sessions of summer camp at Northport Public School. We had a really fun culminating lesson at the Northport Farmers Market. We took the students down to explore the market and complete a scavenger hunt. We think it is so important for students to understand where their food comes from and connect with the farmers who bring that food to their tables. We appreciate the farmers who participated in our activity as well! Check out some pictures below!!
We attended Buckley, Courtade and Northport's "Back to School" nights and loved the opportunity to meet parents and students and inform them about our program. We want to share all the exciting events and activities we will be providing to students and their families in the upcoming year. We are always looking for volunteers and interested parents to be a part of the Farm to School program.
This month and next are going to be filled with one of our most popular activities- Pop Up Farmers Markets! Check out the dates and come join the fun!
