Rowe Lane Campus News
Rocket Families,
PfISD will be entering a transitional phase which allows up to 25% of campus building capacity for students to return for in-person learning, beginning Monday, September 14th. Rowe Lane's percentage of functional capacity requesting on-campus learning is approximately 43%. Currently, our campus is utilizing the district's weighted categories to identify the 25% of students who will have the opportunity to return for on-campus learning. After identifying the percentage of students, we will work to make classroom adjustments. Our goal is to support as few changes for our students during this transitional phase.
By Tuesday, September 8th, Rowe Lane will communicate to all families who selected on-campus learning in their survey informing them that their student will be returning to campus on September 14th or that their student will not be included in the initial 25%.
Additional requests to change student learning preference to on-campus will not be considered after Sunday, August 30th. Families will continue to have the opportunity to make learning preference requests prior to each nine-week period.
Please reach out to our Campus Administrative Team if you have additional questions regarding this transitional phase.

Note from Nurse Kim
If you have not already done so, please fill out your student's online health form at your earliest convenience. The window will close on 09/04/2020. We need these filled out for ALL students.
Also, if your child will require medication at school, please download the medication administration form and have it filled out when you bring your child’s medication. You can download this and all health forms from the PFISD website or you can email me at kimberly.stormvorndran@pfisd.net and I will be more than happy to send them to you.

Special Areas Update
Hey Rowe Lane Families,
Recently, we combined an art & music lesson intended for the third through fifth grades. It seems that somehow it may have made its way to the younger grades as well. Whichever lesson your child ended up doing is fine! No worries about thinking your child may be behind or was off task. We all need a little grace during this process of virtual learning and teaching. To all those who did make a kazoo and attempted to turn in a video of the student playing his/her kazoo I hope you had success in some form of submitting. Many managed to get it uploaded to the form, while others emailed it directly to me. I thought I had the settings correct for anyone to submit on the form, but I found out after students had issues that there was one more box I needed to click! So, moving forward I hope to have everything up and running if I ever ask for such an example again.
On a super positive note, we had some really cool looking pictures and wonderful sounding videos of kids playing their homemade kazoo turned in. I’ve had lots of fun watching and listening to the kids. I hope you all had fun too!
Stay safe!

Affordable Internet Options
The District is working to lessen the burden of internet connectivity some of our families may be experiencing. Over the summer, PfISD Technology increased the Wi-Fi signal on its campuses to extend into the parking lots. Students who may not have reliable internet access at home could, therefore, come to the campus and connect to the school’s Wi-Fi from the parking lot.
The district is also exploring the possibility of taking buses equipped with wifi into areas with dense student population like apartment complexes or mobile home parks. At this time, it is only in the developmental stages as it may not be possible for students to socially distance properly using this option.
Lastly, for families that do not have internet service at home, a number of providers are offering discounts during the COVID-19 pandemic to families that are on the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), also known as Free and Reduced Lunch.
- Spectrum is offering Spectrum Internet Assist, an affordable and reliable high-speed option for $17.99 per month to families in the NSLP, the Community Eligibility Provision of the NSLP or who are on Supplemental Security Income (SSI). If you believe you qualify for this discounted internet service, visit www.spectruminternetassist.com. You can enter your ZIP code to see if the service is available in your area and complete an application form. Spectrum Internet Assist Flyer
- SuddenLink has an option for families that qualify for the NSLP as well for $14.99 per month. More details can be found at www.alticeadvantageinternet.com or call 844-358-3147 to see if you qualify. SuddenLink Flyer: English | Español
- Grande Communications also offers an affordable option for low income families through its Internet First program. Pricing for eligible families is $9.95 a month. For more information and to apply go to https://www.internetfirst.com/.
- AT&T also has options available for affordable internet during these times. More information is available on its website: https://www.att.com/internet/access/.
Meals During Remote Learning
We are continuing to provide food services to the greatest extent possible and allowable for PfISD ENROLLED students participating in virtual learning. District transportation will not be provided to curbside meal pick up locations. For more information including locations and pick up times, please click here: https://www.pfisd.net/Page/7894
Just because COVID-19 has changed how we do many things in the world, it does not mean it has changed the passionate service we provide our students every day, and in the process PfISD will continue to put the health and safety of its students, teachers and staff first.
Our teachers and staff will continue striving to provide strong educational experiences for our students during this time and working together with our parents. The pandemic has not changed our passion for teaching our students.
