Message from the Boss...
Teachers- Due to the new car rider line, it is moving so much faster! YEA!! One of the things that is holding up the line is students not getting out quickly enough. Be sure that students are dismissed when car riders and walkers are called.
I am noticing faculty and staff on their cell phones when on duty. We have to be careful that we are not sending the wrong message to students and parents by having our cell phones out while monitoring students. Put them away.
Be sure to be on time to school and especially duty positions. If you are going to be late you MUST have someone cover until you are there. We can not leave duty positions vacant.
Reminders:
- We will have Faculty Meeting on Tuesday, October 4th beginning at 3:40 in the cafeteria.
- R.E.A.L. Friends week is October 3rd-7th. Book Fair will be open. Have current work displayed in the hallways for our R.E.A.L. Friends to see and enjoy. 20 new folding tables will be set up in the 5th grade gym for additional seating.
- If anyone is interested in participating in the Inspiration Run on Friday, October 7th let me know as soon as possible.
- SPIRIT Week- October 10th-14th:
Tuesday-Crazy hair/hat Day
Wednesday-PJ day
Thursday-SuperHero Day
Friday- RED/WHITE spirit day
Have a restful weekend!
Love you,
Casey Hanna
Message from Mrs. Connie:
Teachers.
Federal Impact Aid Survey forms will be placed in your mailbox today after school. These forms are on buff colored paper. Extra copies are in the office if needed. I have printed you a class list so you can mark off student's name when returned.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND FORMS TO THE OFFICE UNTIL YOU HAVE MOST OR ALL OF YOUR CLASS.
These forms are to be sent home with every student on Monday, October 3rd.
We will have extra copies out during P/T conferences for parent's convenience.
Thank you for your help with this survey.
Message from CAO---We cannot require parents to complete the form. We simply explain that we can receive additional federal funding--but if parent chooses not to participate we cannot require them to return the form.
R.E.A.L. Friends Week
We are so happy to announce Middle School South will host R.E.A.L. Friends Week, October 3rd-7th. R.E.A.L. Friends Week is Middle School South's version of Grandparent's Day. This is an opportunity for students to bring that special someone to lunch (Grandparent, Parent, Aunt, Uncle, Special Friend). Middle School South will have student work displayed for R.E.A.L. Friends to see, and our "R.E.A.L. Panthers Read" Scholastic Book Fair will be open.
We will use the entire week for students to invite their R.E.A.L. Friends to lunch. To help with parking, traffic flow, and seating for lunch, we have divided the days up by last name.
Students with the last name:
A-E Monday
F- J Tuesday
K- O Wednesday
P- T Thursday
U-Z Friday
Lunch times are as followed:
Team 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 10:45-11:15
Team 6.1 11:10-11:40
Team 5.4 and 5.5 11:35-12:05
Team 6.2 and 6.3 12:00-12:30
Team 6.4 12:25-12:55
We hope to see everyone at our R.E.A.L. Friends Week!
If you have another email you would like for me to use or you would like to be removed from the Middle School South News...please email casey.hanna@cps.k12.ar.us.
Educationally Yours,

ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Message from the Counselors:
The Bounceback folder was shared in Google Docs which includes Unit 1 and 2 support activities for the new Bounceback guidance curriculum that the counselors will be presenting to students this year. There is also a file in this folder that contains the "Bounceback" acronym that explains what "Bounceback" stands for if you would like to take a look at it.
This is the same information (black line masters) that Mrs. Homsher talked to the Advisory committee about. Rather than make paper copies/packets we thought it might be more convenient to provide information to all Advisory teachers this way so you can make copies as needed. Some of you may use more of this material than others for your class needs.
The handouts are numbered by Unit/Lesson. The counselors will share with teachers which unit will be covered each month so teachers will know which activities can be used to support their classes.
Please use any materials you feel fit the needs of your class. This material is only meant to support the lessons given by the counselors (if you feel follow up is needed for your particular class) and to supplement the Advisory curriculum you already have.
We hope you find this information useful. Thank you for your support with Bounceback!
6TH GRADE will be starting with Unit 2 in the Resource Book which emphasizes the "bouncing back" from bad things happening to our students. Unit 1 is about Core Values which will be addressed the second semester.

R.E.A.L. Panther Committee
The next R.E.A.L. Panther Assembly will be Friday, October 7th.
Students will be dismissed directly to the 5th grade gym. Essential teachers will pick up their 8:25 class from the 5th grade gym.
Turn in your R.E.A.L. Panther nominee by Wednesday, October 5th. PLEASE ADD T-SHIRT SIZE TO THE NOMINATION FORM.
CURB APPEAL
There has been 8 frames added to the hallways for displays. We need clubs, team, or organizations to decorate these frames. If you create a pic college with Wal-green's you can add numerous about your club, team or organization.
Picture shows example of what they look like. If you are interested let me know.
