Comet Girls Cross Country Take 1st
Comet XC traveled to Bowling Green to run the Mel Brodt Invitational on the old Forrest Creason Golf Course, and left with a team win and a total of fifteen PRs.
HS Girls Top Seven: Sophie Richards (21:49), Marainna Heninger (22:30), Sara Partin (22:43), Sami Richards (23:09), Keerstin Pelow (23:19), Jordyn Bronowski (23:34), and Katelyn Bachmayer (24:31).
Genoa’s DIII girls took first place out of fifteen teams to win the combined DII/DIII race, edging out a solid Gibsonburg team in a close finish. Biggest PR of the day goes to Teagan Szych, who dropped 1:17 off her previous time, followed by Katelyn Bachmayer, who dropped 38 seconds to run in the 24s for the first time.
HS Boys Top Seven: Tyson Lesher (17:58), Derek Rightnowar (18:02), Darin Muir (18:39), Conner LaGrange (18:51), Ross Schlatter (18:57), London Stuller (18:58), and Nathan Cooper (20:04), who made his first first top seven appearance on Saturday by dropping 53 seconds. Great job also to London Stuller, who dropped five seconds to run in the 18s for the first time. Darin Muir continues his fantastic first season by dropping 58 seconds to run in the 18s for the first time, placing third on the team, AND adding his name to the All Time Top 50 list. Darin’s run at BG puts him right at number 50, passing Drew Keenan’s 2012 run at Lakota of 18:42 and lowering the Top 50 cutoff time another three seconds.
HS Boys took third in DII. Biggest PR of the day goes to freshman Nathan Wolff, who chopped off 2:21 from his previous PR, followed by Orion Buffington (-1:45), Sam Beach (-1:08), Logan Evans (-50), Nolan Weaver (-13), Adam Vargo (-10), Colin Brazelton (-4), Braeden Sharples (-3), Brandon Hudson (-1), and Ben Loomis (-1).
CometXC will be back in action next Saturday at the Tiffin Carnival.

Career Readiness Upcoming Events
Catching up with Comets ~ Gina Felding
This is a section where we would like to showcase and highlight the wonderful things Genoa graduates are doing in their selective career fields. The college and career ready component is something that Genoa high school is striving to focus on as we prepare students for a future. We hope that these thoughts and highlights shared will help spread some wisdom obtained by Genoa high school past graduates. This week, we will spotlight, Gina Felding who is a 1995 graduate.
What was one good memory from high school that students today may enjoy hearing from your high school days?
My senior year, I created a 6' x 4' mural on canvas in Mrs. Holbrook's class. We stapled the giant canvas right to the cork bulletin board because it was too big to stretch. I was a creative spirit and she nurtured that to the fullest.
After high school what path led you to where you are today? (After HS until Today)
I picked a long, winding path to get to where I am in life. I had many false starts to college and changed directions from business to social work, then to pre-law, and finally special education. I didn't obtain a degree (I do not recommend this). Instead, I ended up on the radio for a couple years by complete chance which lead me to marketing. I now own a marketing business that I run from home. I do media buying, graphics, plan and implement ad campaigns, run social media accounts, plan events, analyze data, create reports, and help businesses grow. I found a career that fits my larger than life personality with creativity and passion!
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to continue growing Gabella Media (named after my daughters Bella, Gabby, and Kayla). I would like to have a full marketing team someday.
What would be one word of advice that you have for high school students now at Genoa?
Always choose happy.
