Centennial's "Newsday Tuesday"!
Centennial Elementary Families' Weekly Newsletter 1/10/2023
A note from the principal . . .
Hi, Centennial Families, and Happy New Year!
I hope that you and yours were blessed with a peaceful holiday and were able to spend time together making good memories!
Now that we are back, our Spring semester is fully underway!
The halfway point through the year is an important benchmark. Here are some of the exciting and important happenings you may expect:
- Report Cards for the 2nd 9-Weeks will be available on Friday, January 13, at 4 p.m. in our Infinite Campus "Parent Portal" (yes, even Pre-K students will receive (their first) grades)! You will want to make sure that you have created a "Parent Portal" account (please click here to create or access your account). Report cards are no longer printed, however it's very important to log in to verify your child's grades and communicate with your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
- PK-5 teachers are administering middle-of-year assessments to gauge students' achievement and growth. Kindergarten through 5th grade teachers will administer the AimsWeb Plus Academic Screening Assessment. Teachers will share your child's results with you prior to the end of January.
Centennial Spelling Bee Happening This Week!
- We are thrilled to welcome back the return of the Centennial Spelling Bee. This academic competition was open to students in grades 2/3 and 4/5 this year, with our GATE Teacher, Terri Hickman, as sponsor (thanks, Mrs. Hickman!)
- The champion of the 4th/5th grade bee (to be determined on Friday) will advance to a regional spelling competition to represent Centennial! School and regional spelling bees are the first step to qualify spellers for the National Scripps Spelling Bee! Photos of participants and spelling champions will be included in next week's newsletter...stay tuned! Congratulations to all participants...you are un-bee-lievable spellers!
Thank you for a wonderful first half of our school year; I believe with all my heart that we have every reason to be hopeful for an even more successful and amazing Spring semester!
I appreciate you!
With kind regards,
Ellie Webb, Principal
