Conrad Owl News
September 2020
Welcome Back to School!
It has been such a joy to see you and your children back at Conrad. The energy and excitement is contagious! The staff have been loving every minute of working with students again, building relationships and establishing classroom routines. It's good to be back into the school routine!
I want to send a huge shout out to all of you for following the safety precautions that have been put in place as we returned to school. To begin with, the new arrival and dismissal procedure has been very smooth and manageable. I thank you for wearing a face covering when dropping off/picking up your child, keeping a safe distance between other families, and your patience as students are signed in with teachers and the routine questions are asked during the COVID-19 pandemic. I also appreciate your flexibility as we had to shift to indoor release for our PM session last week with the rain storm that set in right at dismissal.
As the school year now gets going, I wanted to make sure to send out a few reminders and information:
- Please do not access the back of the building's parking lot or drive through from the back. This is a bus loading/unloading zone.
- Remember to keep wearing a face covering when on school property (any public property). This is for the health and safety of students, staff, yourself, and other families.
- If your child is sick or presents with signs of illness, please call the office to excuse your child from school. With the health and safety measures that have been put into place during the pandemic, students and staff are expected to stay home when sick.
- Library will begin the week we return from Labor Day. Library day will be on Wednesdays, so September 9th will be the first day for students to check out a book. We will have a traveling library cart this year so that students can still check out a book for the week. Students should return their library book no later than the following Tuesday. Remember to keep the book in a safe and dry place so others can enjoy it once it is returned and cleaned.
- School photos are scheduled for September 18th. More information will be sent home as this date approaches.
- PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) will begin again soon! Meetings are usually held on the first Friday of the month. Our first meeting will be on Friday, September 11 from 8:30-9:30 through Zoom. You can join us from the comfort of your own home since we are limiting the amount of in-person meetings. Last year's PTO did some amazing work with fundraisers, family events, and pampering the staff. Due to the COVID closure in the Spring, they are ready to get moving again for this year! Please fill out the survey that will be sent through REMIND if you are interested in joining our amazing PTO.
- Spirit Wear is available for purchase! We have a new owl and motto this year! The open ordering is available from September 1st-October 1st.
- Snack calendars are posted on our Conrad website. Look for the pink owl holding a calendar for the clickable link.
- We adopted a new early learning curriculum this school year. Our teachers will be receiving another day of training for the online components this Friday. We would love to share all it has to offer for our students (and you!) at a Curriculum Night. This will be through Zoom since we cannot have any large events this first semester. Please be watching for more information to come with date/time and Zoom link for our upcoming Curriculum Night.
Thank you all, again, for the wonderful start to the school year. It is so rewarding to be working with students again and watching them grow every day! Even during this time of "different," everybody has pulled together to do what is best for our children/students. I thank you for your flexibility, patience and partnership as we continue to work through this unprecedented time. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions!
Here's to a happy new school year!

Illness during COVID
If your child is asked to remain home for the 72 hours, please know that you can keep your child engaged in their learning by accessing the Ready Rosie app. I recognize that keeping your child home for this amount of time may be inconvenient or difficult, but I appreciate your understanding of the impact illnesses have on us all during this time.

Orders will be delivered by mid-October.
Conrad's PTO is amazing!
Family-School Connection
There is another resource that our teachers are receiving training with on Friday, 4th. We will share more information with all the wonderful resources with you at our upcoming Curriculum Night.
