Technology Tidbits
Midway's Digital Citizenship Vision:
Every student at Midway ES will become a responsible digital citizen who knows how to harness the learning potential of digital media in a 24/7 connected world, safely, effectively, ethically, and respectfully. Students at this school will be educated about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms and cyber bullying awareness and response. In order to accomplish this goal, each year students will be provided with direct instruction on how to be a responsible digital citizen. Additionally, classroom teachers will refer to and discuss the Digital Citizen Tools For Success Poster each time students are required to use technology.
- Complete the Google Digital Citizenship for Teachers before Halloween and email me a copy of your badge. Thank you for doing your part to keep our kids safe online and learning alongside them as well. HUGE thank you for the following teachers for completing the Digital Citizenship Google Training: Kangas, Fahey, Wade, Shelnutt, Phillips, C Arnold, Vallier, Collins, Driscoll, Reynolds, J Davis, Moore, Love, Clanton, Smith, Patel, Miller, D Davis, DeLaCruz, Ratterree, Bohm, Shorter, Luper, Starr, Adam, Kaiser, Asp, Lippe, Orr, DiAngelo and LeBlanc.
Reminders:
-You have Note program on your laptop. I know it isn’t as fun as on the panel but you can play/experiment with the tools so when we get the panels you will be more comfortable. The first time you open Note you will need the following code. You will only have to put this in the first time you open Note. 21503-01638-09670-24364
-Midway Course page has a Clear Touch folder in resources. If you need a refresher or want to learn more information take a peek in that folder.
-If you have a lesson you want me to model using Note please send me an email. I'm happy to help and ready to learn more about Note too.
-Do you want to learn more about Nearpod in the classroom? I can come in during your planning time and discuss or model a lesson.
Thank you to 3rd grade for reaching out to me about a rock breakout. I love breakouts and I appreciate the chance to work with your grade level and students.

Good to Know...
~ 2018-2019 Grading Window Schedule
Last Friday Hannah Samples and our education foundation surprised 11 schools with $40,000 in grants. However, we had $131,838 in grant requests that we could not fund.
This August, HR shared with the BOE that we have 7,643 full/part-time employees and substitutes. Guess how many participate in the payroll deduction for the foundation?
23
This includes 6 Cabinet members, 1 BOE, 4 principals, 4 C.O. staff and 1 AP. The remaining 7 are teachers and bus drivers.
I’m not writing asking for a certain dollar figure, I’m writing asking if you're interested in participating, pretty please!

Thank you,
