Counselors Corner
As parents we all like to be kept informed about our children's school progress and to feel connected to our child's school and classroom. In addition to parent teacher conferences during the year many teachers send out weekly newsletters, daily reminders through email, Clever or Remind and information through Friday Folders or student planners.
Even with all of this communication you may wonder why a teacher didn’t reach out to you or inform you when your child started showing signs of an academic struggle or loss of motivation. As your child progresses through their academic career individual responsibility becomes the focus and teachers will guide your student to take control of their education, both the successes and the struggles. Classroom teachers will make contact when they notice significant changes in academic success or social emotional wellness; however daily or regular contact is typically reserved for only the most serious of situations (i.e. safety or mental health concerns.) Parents are able to monitor their child's progress through Infinite Campus and can even set up notifications so that Infinite Campus sends automatic updates about grades and other reminders. If you do not currently have access to the parent portal please contact Andrea Kroekel; Registrar at akroekel@bromleyeastcs.org.
If you have any questions or concerns about your students' progress please reach out to their grade level counselor. We are often in a position to respond to parents quickly and can help bridge communication concerns or offer support to help your student be successful and happy on their educational journey.

Eighth grade to High School transition
January and February are important months for 8th grade students. This is the time when high schools are looking toward next year and “Check It Out Nights” are scheduled at the high schools.
Click here for important information regarding high school options and enrolling/registering for high school.
Enrollment for 2023/24
Intent to Return forms have been emailed out. Please fill it out for each of your students who will be in grades 1-8 next school year by January 31. If you have a new-to-the-school student, fill out an application from the enrollment tab on the website.
Open Enrollment for NEW students wishing to attend BECS in the 23-24 school year is open. Open Enrollment closes February 24 and the lottery will be held at the beginning of March. If you are offered a spot, you will have 48 hours to accept the spot.
We want to secure your student’s spot for the 2023-2024 school year!
In order for Bromley East Charter School to effectively register students and plan for the upcoming school year, it is imperative that we know how many students will be enrolled in our school at each grade level.
The first step in this process is the Intent to Return Process. This is an opportunity for existing families to inform us if it is their intent to have their currently enrolled child(ren) remain at BECS next year.
A separate Intent to Return form MUST be completed for EVERY currently enrolled student.
Form is due by January 31, 2023

As a reminder they will be photographed wearing a cap so please style their hair accordingly that day. High ponies or buns cause the cap to not sit right on their head. Thanks.

For students to participate in this day, they are required to bring in $1 that is collected and utilized in a variety of ways to support students and student activities. Below are the remaining Modified Dress Day dates, as well as how Bromley East will use the funds collected during Modified Dress Days to support students and student activities.

Outside Recess Clarification
Research shows that students perform better both behaviorally and academically throughout the school day when they are able to go outside for recess. Therefore, at Bromley East we strive to get students outside for recess as much as possible. We will take our students outside for recess unless one or more of the following exist:
The actual temperature outside is below 25 degrees
There is precipitation falling
There are dangerous conditions outside
Please ensure that you are sending your student to school dressed appropriately for the weather each day. The administration will make a determination when these conditions exist, and will let students and teachers know whether recess will be indoors or outdoors.
Pastries with the Principals
Pastries with the Principals is scheduled for January 27th at 8:45 am in our Data Room in the main office. We welcome you to attend one time or every time. The content is always different. Come and hear about all that is happening at BECS. Spend time with our two amazing Principals while enjoying some yummy pastries. We hope to see you there! Please sign up so we can have enough pastries.
