Weekly Update
November 5, 2019
This week at school . . . . .
All Souls: We have all lost loved ones, some recently and others awhile ago. The month of November is a time when we remember those loved ones with Mass intentions. Fr. Kelly reminded us at Mass Sunday that there is a book on the Marian side altar and several boys joined me today in writing in the names we would like to have remembered in the parish’s prayers. On November 15th we will have a special Requiem Mass featuring the music of Gabriel Faure, one of the boys’ favorites. Please attend and invite a friend to finish the week on a positive note.
Alumni Sunday and Open House: What a wonderful Sunday we experienced here at St. Paul’s last weekend. Beginning with a beautiful Alumni Sunday Mass in which all the roles, from main celebrant, to readers to altar servers to the choir were contributed to by alumni of the choir school. Special thanks to Mrs. Thurston for her diligence in reaching out to so many of her former students and coordinating the orchestration of all the roles. We were very pleased to have Thomas Potts and Sean Hurley share their reminiscences during the reception that followed. Then everyone was welcomed to join the Open House, which was so very well attended. The newly upgraded hallways and library showcased improvements made over the past summer and Mr. Moran debuted the latest Brian Crowley promotional video to much applause and excitement. If you have not seen it, watch for it on YouTube soon. Our teachers showcased their classes with the record number of interested families. The school was bustling with energy for two hours, including the happy smiles of children taking advantage of our first ever Bouncy House in the inner courtyard. If you are an alumnus of St. Paul’s and were not able to make it, please take advantage of our upcoming Christmas Concerts to be welcomed back.
Germany: The deadline for deposits to hold a place for boys who wish to go to Germany in February (15th – 24th) are due now. We we will need a deposit of $1000 the deposit to secure airplane tickets. All boys in the school are invited. If you need financial assistance, please do not hesitate to ask what we can do to help. Please let Mrs. Flaherty know if you do NOT intend to send your child.
End of Term: The end of the first term is Wednesday, November 6th. Report cards will be mailed out Monday, November 11th and Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Monday, November 18th from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Mark your calendars and watch for a signup link from Dianne.
Thank you, Tom
