The Hornet Buzz

Note from Principal

Dear Families and Caregivers:

Thank you everyone for a fantastic start to the 2022-2023 school year; the students have been amazing! We are so happy to have everyone back in our classrooms, sports teams, clubs and in our EHS community!

As you know, safety is one of our top priorities. We had our first fire drill this week and it went very very well. The students and staff were able to exit the building and get to their evacuation groups in a timely manner. Feel free to visit our District Safety webpage for updated information.

We know that students do their best learning when in the classroom working alongside our exceptional faculty and staff. Attendance is an area we focus on to help students get the most out of their learning experience at Essex High School. A reminder that first block begins promptly at 8:00am. Thank you for all you do to help students make it to campus and be ready for the day.

I hope you have a terrific weekend. The weather looks like it will be great! I look forward to seeing students for our first full week of school next week!

Welcome New EHS Students!

This year, EHS is thrilled to offer more support to students who are new to EHS from another school, country, or state. If you or your child is new to EHS this year, there will be an Assembly on Friday, September 16th during Flex. They will be automatically signed up.

This time will focus on learning about the resources and supports at EHS including clubs, sports, counseling, academic support, and more.

There will then be Flex time available for smaller groups of students to connect with an adult to ask more questions, connect with each other and share the experience of being new, and building community.

We are so happy you're here! Please reach out to Kate Littlefield, SAP Counselor with any questions. She can be reached at or 802-857-7412
