Note from the Principal
Dear Buena Vista] Families,
As we approach the end of another incredible year at Buena Vista, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your continued support and partnership in shaping our students' educational journey.
Throughout the year, we have witnessed remarkable growth, resilience, and dedication from our students. Their enthusiasm for learning and their unwavering spirit have truly been a source of inspiration for all of us. Together, we have created a nurturing environment where our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
None of this would have been possible without the unwavering commitment and hard work of our exceptional teachers, staff, and administrators. Their passion for education and dedication to our students' success are evident in every interaction and achievement. I am incredibly proud of our entire Buena Vista team for their outstanding contributions.
As we bid farewell to the current academic year, I encourage you to take this time to celebrate your child's accomplishments, big and small. Their growth and progress are a testament to their hard work and the support they have received from you.
Please remember to take some well-deserved rest and enjoy quality time with your loved ones during the upcoming break. It is an opportunity to recharge, rejuvenate, and create lasting memories.
We look forward to welcoming you back for another exciting year at Buena Vista next fall. The 2023-2024 school year will start Wednesday, August 16th. As always, we remain committed to providing the best possible education and nurturing environment for your children. Together, we will continue to engage, inspire, empower, and unlock the endless potential within each and every student.
Wishing you a joyful and rejuvenating summer.
With warmest regards,
Angela Gramlick
Principal
A Note for 5th grade parents
We will be holding your child's promotion ceremony on Friday, May 26th at 10:30am. It will be located on the back lawn next to room 49. Please note that this event is a "bring your own seating" event to ensure we can accommodate everyone. Please bring your soccer/camping chairs or blankets as needed for your group. We are so excited to celebrate the successes of this 5th grade class.

BV 2023 Yearbooks are here! YAY!
Students who preordered yearbooks will be receiving them in class either Thursday or Friday so please ask your kiddos about them. We do have about 25 that are still available for purchase. You can purchase one directly from Shelley in the office this week and next Tuesday-Friday from 9am-3pm. They are $30 each and you must pay in cash, with the exact amount (the office does not have change). Thank you and happy Summer!
Thank you to everyone who attended the PTA meeting for the elections for the 23-24 school year. Here are the elected positions for the next year and the following people will be the PTA leadership starting July 1st.
President - Delise Anderson
Secretary - Emily Pollard
Treasurer - Pauline Grundig
VP of Ways and Means - Rachelle Stimmel
VP of Communications - Katie McSherry
VP of Outreach - Mary Stone
VP of Programs - Open
Historian - Open
We have two open positions which can be filled by nomination that we would love to fill. These are important roles to fill to keep up with all the great things the PTA does for our children and community.
VP of Programs - The VP of Programs works with the committee and other chairmen to plan and organize programs for the school year. This role collaborates with principal, PTA president, other chairmen and campus student groups to coordinate, plan, and implement programs.
Historian - The Historian captures, assembles and preserves records of activities and achievements of the PTA. They collect volunteer hours for PTA meetings and events and complete/ submit the PTA Unit-Annual Historian Report to council/district PTA.
After School Enrichment
Our PTA is looking for two new volunteer ASE Enrichment Coordinators for our upcoming year. Please chat with Amy Maggiore or Natalie Kwan Lloyd or email them at buenavistaase@gmail.com to learn more! You can help drive what afterschool enrichment classes are offered at BV!
Chances are that you know someone who is struggling with their mental health. People experiencing mental health challenges aren’t broken — they need support and care. And that begins with a conversation.
This month we have an opportunity to break the stigma around mental health by talking openly, compassionately, and kindly to each other. No one should ever struggle alone.
If you want to quickly be connected to a mental health care provider, contact Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential mental health care coordination service provided by Walnut Creek School District:
Call 888-515-0595. Multilingual support is available 24/7/365.
Visit www.caresolace.com/wcsd and either search on your own OR click “Book Appointment” for assistance by video chat, email, or phone.
Don’t hesitate to ask for help, use the resources around you, and never give up hope.

Fundraising Update
We are SO close to reaching our goal of $1.4 million. Thanks to 1916 donors, we are just 8% shy of our goal to enhance the education of all students at WCSD and Las Lomas.
If you have not yet donated, this is the perfect time to show your appreciation for the 20+ teachers and specialists WCEF funding makes possible. From art and science specialists, electives at WCI and Tice Creek – to the Wellness Coordinator and over 21 Advanced Placement classes at Las Lomas—our students benefit every day.
Every amount makes a difference. Give $40 to honor WCEF’s 40th anniversary coming in 2023-24. Donate $100 to honor your teachers. Or more. It all adds up.
To donate via Venmo, use our handle @wcefk12 or go online to donate.
Save the date! Dine at Chipotle on June 21 and WCEF gets 33% back
