Inspiring Tomorrow's Innovators, Today
November 10, 2019
Notes from our Director
Hello DATA community,
Thank you to each of you who came out and supported our STEAM fundraiser at Arctic Ape. It was great to meet so many of you and enjoy some yogurt together. We were able to raise over $200 to support the STEAM carnival exhibits. Our partners at Arctic Ape were gracious hosts.
There are just two weeks left before Thanksgiving break with many events happening before the break. We will honor our veterans on Monday, Nov. 11 at 6pm on the JROTC pad and thank many who have served our country. Thank you to ALL of our veterans. On Wednesday, Nov. 13, the movie, Angst, is being shown by our PTSA. Thursday, Nov. 14, we will host our first Coffee Talk with guest Kathy Armstrong coming to share her expertise with our students in the library beginning at 8am. Our TR football team has made the playoffs and will play Thursday night at 7pm at Heroes Stadium. STEAM Carnival is this Friday, November 15, in the TR Courtyard. We hope you will be able to come out and join us for this outstanding event. Our teachers and students have been working hard to complete some amazing exhibits for the event and have learned much along the way. As before, there are additional details and many other important events highlighted in the calendar of events and in photos below. I look forward to seeing you at one of our near future events.
Thank you for entrusting your students to the DATA program.

Documentary Angst at TR on Wednesday, Nov. 13
We are excited to be bringing the documentary Angst to Roosevelt High School on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Our goal is to bring kids, parents and educators together to talk about this universal issue, share personal stories and provide tools. Join us in our efforts to raise awareness around anxiety. A light meal and refreshments will be served prior to the movie. The movie is free and a ticket is not required. Angstmovie.com

What is STEAM?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
What is a STEAM Carnival?
STEAM meets the festivities of a carnival, and is a massive science, technology, engineering, art, math, and music fair. At the NEISD’s STEAM Carnival, you will experience hands-on activities, performances, demonstrations, and a variety of interactive exhibits that all feature STEAM concepts. These innovative and exciting exhibits are created by groups of students throughout the district. Come see the future our youth are creating! At the STEAM Carnival, you can also enjoy hands-on activities and cutting edge technology hosted by our Community Partners. Join us in the Roosevelt High School Courtyard to create art with lights, make music as you walk, and play life size games! There are hundreds of booths to experience and food and novelties are available for purchase. The NEISD STEAM Carnival is an event for all ages.
Why should I attend the NEISD STEAM Carnival?
You should attend the NEISD STEAM Carnival because it is super amazing and incredibly beautiful and because NEISD students create extraordinary exhibits for the community!
