Since the beginning of this semester, students in the Denton High School Theatre program have been working on a film version of Macbeth. The students have completed the project while following COVID mitgation protocols including social distancing and masking. This creative project has provided an outstanding opportunity for the DHS Theatre students to learn about filming and editing.
The film is set to release on October 30, 2020 via the Denton HS Theatre website https://dentontheatre.wixsite.com/5358. Visit the site for more information.

"Love let me lift this veil of darkness...Love let me see my way back to you." - From the finale of Bright Star.
Bright Star is a brilliant, moving piece that is sure to make you laugh, make you cry, and sometimes you might want to clap your hands or tap your feet. We encourage it. Working on this show together has been such a ray of light for all of us, and we are ready to share it with you!

HS Music Students Succeed in Online TMEA Auditions
Choir, jazz band, and orchestra students from Braswell, Denton, Guyer, and Ryan High Schools are participating in the Region 2 Texas Music Educators Association auditions. To mitigate the spread of COVID this school year, TMEA is requiring music students to submit audition recordings online instead of performing in person. Audition recordings for Region 2 high school choir, jazz ensemble, and orchestra were judged October 17-18. Denton ISD students compete with students from other districts in TMEA Region 2 such as Lake Dallas, Lewisville, and Northwest ISDs. Students that were selected to the Region 2 ensembles are named as members and will receive a letter jacket patch from TMEA. However, there is not a live clinic or performance scheduled for the Region 2 ensembles at this time due to the COVID pandemic.
Denton ISD had 8 band students selected for the 20-member Region 2 Jazz Ensemble and 7 of those students qualified to audition for All-State. 30 DISD orchestra students were selected for the Region 2 Orchestras and 13 of those students qualified to audition for All-State. 33 DISD choir students advanced to the All-Region and Pre-Area round. Congratulations to the outstanding students named in the links below. Many thanks to their directors, private lesson teachers, and parents for supporting them and helping them prepare for the audition. Best wishes to the students who have advanced to the Area level audition for a chance at making All-State!
