Happy Thanksgiving Break!
Need something to read on your journies?
Some of Mrs. J's favorite ebook recommendations
Got a long car ride or a long flight and you don't want to pack a bunch of books? No worries, I have you covered. Take a look at our ebook collection. You get them for two whole weeks, never overdue and you can read them on the plane or car without wi-fi (as long as you checked them out first).
The Crossover
Hip Hop meets verse poetry with a slam dunk. A little basketball with a bit of family and a whole lot of love.
The Martian
Left for dead on Mars, not a great way to start your day. Mark Watney must figure out how to survive and let NASA and everyone on Earth know that he's still alive and would like to come home very much, please, thank you.
Mrs. Julsonnet is in love with Mark Watney. And she wants everyone to read this book BEFORE you watch the movie.

The Running Dream
Jessica is an amazing athlete, star track runner. That all changes one day when the school bus she's on crashes and she wakes up to find one of her legs has been amputated. Now she must learn to live a life completely different from anything she's ever known. Running should be nothing more then a dream. But Jessica's strong and she's not giving up on running, if it's the last thing she does.
Alas, Babylon
This is the post apocalyptic dystopian novel. It was written before that even had a genre name. This is hands down one of my favorite takes on 'an atomic bomb was dropped and how do we cope in our world now?' and not enough people read it.
It was written in the 50s so be prepared for some eye-brow raising issues (women are not exactly looked upon as movers and shakers) but overall it's an excellent story about a world gone mad.

The Invention of Wings
Is there anyone who hasn't read this book yet? *Mrs. J looks shifty and then slowly raises her hand*
BUT! I've heard it's amazing and it's hardly ever available for checkout so I recommend it on the basis that loads of people have recommended it.
Yep. Moving on.

Jinx
Looking for some fun fantasy with a truly lovable protagonist and a really delightful cast of quirky characters? Jinx might be for you, and if you're one of the lucky one's starting it now, you'll be delighted to know it's a completed trilogy. But, if you want to stop with just this one that is fine because it has a lovely satisfying ending. No cliffhangers here!
Not sure how to get ebooks? Directions here!!
First off, if you have a school iPad you should have the Overdrive app already. If not, just go to the app store and look for Overdrive (it's free).
Next, click sign up.
Use your school email address. Use your school password as well. (UNLESS...your password must be 8 characters long so if your school password is shorter then that, you'll have to use something else for the sign up. HOWEVER when you are signing in to Overdrive after that, to check out a book, you must use your school password).
You'll want to add our library, click on the icon in the top left corner and then search for Lancaster Country Day School. Here you can see I've added three libraries.
And now you're pretty much done. You can access the catalog by clicking on our library's name under the My Libraries link or you can get to it by visiting our library website and clicking on the icon for the ebook catalog.
When you are signing in make sure you use your school username NOT your email. Your school username. Usually last name, first initial. And the password will be your school password. Even if you had to make something up to create the account you still use your school password.
