News From This Week
Thank you SO much to all of the parents who were able to join me for Curriculum Night! It was great seeing all of you and explaining to you what is happening in our classroom. I know that if we work together all of the students will have a successful year. If you were unable to attend, the folder with all the information is being sent home in the Friday Folder. There are 3 sheets of information that need to be sent back. They are:
- the student information sheet that is titled Additional Information Sheet. Please verify the information and initial. If you need to make any changes, please make them on the sheet.
- the School/Parent Compact
- the lost book form
We have kicked off our reading program at Gwin Oaks! Each student is required to read for a minimum of 20 minutes per night. Please be sure to sign the reading log each week. Reading logs are due every Monday. Our goal is to have 100% participation.
As I explained at Open House last night, fourth grade is a challenging year. We have a lot to cover in science and social studies. If your child is having any trouble in these areas, please have him/her bring home their science/SS journals nightly to review the day’s learning. They can also access their Social Studies and Science textbooks on their eClass. This reading counts towards the 20 minute per night reading requirement.
Have a wonderful and safe 3 day weekend!
