Principal's Message
Dear East Vincent Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. As we approach our upcoming parent-teacher conferences, we want to emphasize your critical role in your child's education and development. Research consistently highlights the significance of parent-teacher collaboration. Dr. Joyce L. Epstein, a renowned researcher in family and school partnerships, once stated, "When families are involved in their children's education, children earn higher grades and test scores, have better attendance, and complete homework more consistently." With this in mind, we want to provide you with a plan for making the most of your limited conference time.
First and foremost, it's essential to Be Prepared. Reviewing your child's recent work and jotting down any questions or concerns you'd like to discuss will help you make the most of your conference time. This preparation allows you to focus on specific areas of interest and concern and ensures that your meeting is productive.
Secondly, Listen Actively during the conference. Your child's teacher will provide valuable insights and feedback on your child's academic progress, behavior, and any challenges they may be facing. Avoid interruptions and truly engage in the conversation, seeking clarification when needed. Active listening fosters a stronger understanding of your child's educational journey and enables a more effective partnership with the teacher.
In addition to listening, Engage in Effective Communication with the teacher. Share your insights and concerns openly, fostering a collaborative environment. Remember, a successful partnership between home and school is built on clear and open communication. This two-way dialogue is essential in creating a supportive learning environment for your child.
Finally, Discuss Goals and Strategies with the teacher. Collaborate to set clear academic and behavioral goals for your child, identifying strategies to achieve them at school and home. This collaborative approach ensures that everyone is aligned in their efforts to support your child's development and success.
Your active participation in parent-teacher conferences is an investment in your child's future. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity for us to work together to ensure your child's success. We look forward to our upcoming conferences and appreciate your dedication to your child's education.

East Vincent Team Day
On Friday, Dr. Marshall, Mrs. McMenamin, Mrs. Cooney, Mrs. Quinn, and myself had the pleasure of meeting with all grade levels from 1st through 6th, and during our time together, we accomplished three fantastic activities. To begin, we took a moment to write words of appreciation and thanks to our incredible staff members. It was a chance for us to express our gratitude for their invaluable contributions as the Most Valuable Persons in our school.
Next up was an exciting grade-level tournament of rock, paper, scissors! Students engaged in spirited matches, cheering on their classmates until we crowned a final champion. It was a lively and fun-filled competition that brought everyone together.
As a calming conclusion to our gathering, we dedicated ten minutes to practicing mindfulness. We discussed the importance of slowing down our heart rates, highlighting how a slower heartbeat can lead to clearer thinking. Through mindfulness exercises, we aimed to create a peaceful moment for students to relax and focus their minds.
Overall, our time together was a wonderful mix of appreciation, camaraderie, and reflection. These activities not only brought us closer as a school community but also reinforced the importance of gratitude, teamwork, and self-care.
