Information for Parents ~ MAY 2017
Dear Families,
It's hard to believe the school year is over already! Thank you parents for all of your prayers and support for our program this year. It has been a year filled with many blessings and fun for all of us in GLVN.
What a joy it has been to be with your children and see them grow in God's love throughout the year.
This weekend will be our last day of GLVN classes. Please join us for our last day celebrations and Mass (see more details below), and let's together pray for a last day filled with more joy and love in Christ, so that He will remain in our hearts during the summer break.
Have a fun and blessed Summer!
In Christ,
The GLVN Administration Team
Last Day Celebrations & Awards Ceremony
Each year, GLVN celebrates all our students' achievements with an end-of-year celebration. This year's celebrations began last week with a lunch for all students. It will continue this week in the classrooms. Teachers have prepared a fun morning together for their students, starting at 10 am (our normal class time).
Teachers may be providing small snacks for their classes during the morning activities, but students will still need to purchase (or bring) their own lunch as normal.
At noon, we will head over to the church for our annual awards ceremony. This year's Awards Ceremony will recognize the top students in 3 areas of study -- religion, Vietnamese language, and overall performance. We invite parents to join us for the ceremony!
We also have a special candle procession at the beginning and end of our 1:30 Mass, as our grade 10 students pass on the light of the GLVN program to the grade 9 students, who will be our Confirmation students in the next school year. Parents are also invited to stay for Mass with the students!

Our First Communion Class!
2nd Grade Family Retreat Day!
What a blessed day spent learning, playing and praying together! Our 2nd grade parents had special workshop sessions with our priests to be reminded about the special graces of these Sacraments, as well as learn ways they can continue to help their child continue to know God's love through these Sacraments. Parents also enjoyed a special craft and lunch with their child.
The last day to trade in tickets for prizes is this Sunday, May 21! Please remind your child to bring in their tickets!
The prize table will be located in the gym from 10 am until 12 pm.
Students may ask their teachers to go to the gym at any time between 10:00-12:00.
Prizes are on a first come, first serve basis, and there is limited quantities of each prize.
Some larger prizes may not be available for pick up immediately, and we will arrange with those students for delivery/pick up of the prizes at a later date.

CHALLENGE EXPLANATION
A chance for your child to...
Grow in their faith. Have fun. Earn prizes.
Our goal in GLVN is to help students encounter God and develop a relationship with Him, especially through participation in the Sacraments, through other people and their testimonies about their own relationships with God, in reading the Bible and in prayer. We want to foster this relationship with God both inside the GLVN classroom and outside the classroom – when the students are at home during the weekdays.
This GLVN Challenge was developed as a way to encourage students to keep on learning and growing in their faith and relationship with God when they are not at Church in the GLVN classroom. We hope that participating in this activity, students will have fun, gain a little more knowledge about their faith, and grow to know and love God more. Plus, students can earn some fun little incentives along the way :-)
Please encourage your kids to take part in the GLVN Challenge!

Saint Prayers
We had a blessed All Saint’s Day celebration at the beginning of November as Cha blessed the Saint images and classrooms.
Click here to view more photos from the day.
Each class prayed a special prayer of their patron Saint, and it is the prayer that our teachers pray with their students each week. The patron Saint for each class was chosen for the virtues that the Saint is recognized for and how their lives are great examples for the students in each age group.
We encourage parents to pray these patron Saint prayers with your students every day to help them grow in holiness at home, at school, at work and in life.
Click here to see the prayer for your child’s class; each prayer is on a separate page for you to easily print out.
All-School Prayer for 2016-2017
With St. Thomas Aquinas as our patron saint for GLVN, each Sunday our teachers pray this with their students. We invite parents to also pray it with your children each day before they begin their regular school day. You can also print out this prayer to post in your home; click here to get a printable version).
