Fifth Grade Newsletter
January 19, 2016
Message to Parents,
As of today we have had two ADVANCE classes. These classes are formerly known as the DARE program. This program is put on by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, and they will take place for the next eight Tuesdays. Students who do not return their permission slips by Tuesday, January 26th will have to go to an additional study hall session. If you misplaced the permission slip; you can write a note to your child's homeroom teacher or email them stating that you give them permission to participate.
The fifth grade will have a Valentine's Day card exchange in the afternoon on Friday, February 12th. The students will need to decorate a box or bag at home to collect cards from their classmates. Homeroom teachers will send home a list of with number of students and first names so you can fill out the cards. We will not have a party, but you are welcome to send in individually wrapped treats if you like.
We will be collecting baby pictures (under 1 yr old) of 5th graders for the yearbook. You can email them to cmcsiyearbook@gmail.com or send them in for us to scan. Please send them in NO LATER than Friday, February 26!
A lot of students have returned to school at this midway point without school supplies. Please check with your child to see if they need more notebook paper or pencils. Teachers have a limited supply to share with students.
A Message from Mr. Manfroni (music)
Greetings parents and students!
I just wanted to take a moment to remind you about the upcoming PTO program on Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at 7:00 PM. 4th and 5th grade students will be performing some of our recent songs from class and I know that we are all very excited for you to see their hard work! In celebration of this joyous time of year and the many holidays we celebrate, the theme of our program is “Here Comes the Snow!” I am asking that all students dress nicely in their best winter wear. Just be sure to look your best and not dress too warm (it can get real warm up on that stage J). I’m asking all students participating in the program to meet in the music room by 6:45 PM so that we have time to get lined up and review any last minute things before the performance.
You are not going to want to miss this performance! In addition to our grade level presentations of music our renowned CMCSI Chorus will be presenting us with music as well. In addition to singing, students will be playing instruments, demonstrating dances and performing a cup routine to a seasonal classic. In addition, the class with the highest participation will be awarded with a very special prize but more information to come about that!!!
Please mark your calendar for January 28th and make every effort to come. As always, feel free to contact me at any point with questions, comments or concerns at josh.manfroni@hallco.org. I look forward to seeing all of you on the 28th!
Musically,
Mr. Manfroni
