Principal's Note
As you may be aware, the Amherst School District deliberative session will take place on Monday, February 6th at 6:00pm at Souhegan High School. This night is a special night for the community. At the deliberative session the voters of the town propose and vote for changes to the proposed school budget and warrant articles before they go on the ballot in March. This means that any registered voter of Amherst can make a motion to increase or decrease the proposed budget. Then, those voters in attendance can vote to support the increase or decrease to the budget impacting the budget before it goes for a vote in March. This event is democracy in action. Please join us for the deliberative session on Monday at 6pm in the Souhegan High School theater for this special event. More information (including childcare) can be found below.
It's been a VERY cold day and promises to be a very cold weekend. Please stay safe and warm.
Be well,
Kristen

Amherst School Board Deliberative Session - Monday, February 6th at 6pm
The Amherst School District Deliberative Session will be held on Monday, February 6 at 6 p.m. at Souhegan High School. We encourage all Amherst residents to attend in order to understand, discuss, and debate the school district warrant articles which will appear on the ballot for voting in March. Souhegan High School students will be available to support with childcare during Deliberative (until the end of the Deliberative Session or until 9 p.m.).
NH has a town meeting form of governance for those of you who are new to the process. Amherst has adopted Senate Bill 2, which means there are two sessions in the annual meeting process. The first session (deliberative session) is for the explanation, discussion, debate, and amendments to the proposed to operating budget and warrant articles. The second session (voting session) allows voters to cast their votes for local elections and all warrant articles. The voting session will be held on Tuesday, March 14.
Support documentation for the deliberative session is available at this link in the FY24 folder.
A detailed look at the FY24 budget is available here.
We hope to see you on February 6th and March 14th!

A Note From Our Nurse
Students should be encouraged to bring their own snacks, cough drops and a water bottle and should not rely on the Nurse to provide these things. We are happy to help in a a pinch, but lately we have found our supplies are decreasing rapidly. Thank you in advance for your understanding!
