Literacy
We are getting ready for EOGs using the data from the Literacy Mock EOG and incorporating folklore. Ask your child what lessons they have learned lately from the characters in their stories.
Math
This week in math we are studying and practicing to understand the order of operations. Some of you might remember this as PEMDAS. Parenthesis, Exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction. From here we will move onto coordinate grids.
During all of this and going into next week we will begin to prepare for the upcoming math EOG, which will take place May 26. We will focus on fractions as that is the biggest part of the EOG but we will also review the other skills taught throughout the year as well. Please continue to work with your child at home on skills they may struggle with. Every bit of extra practice helps.
Science
This week in Science, we are learning out about the functions of the Digestive and Nervous Systems. We took our first vocabulary test on Monday. Students that scored a C or less have an opportunity to make corrections and return the tests by May 10th.
Students received a study guide for their second Body Systems Vocabulary test on Tuesday, May 9th. The study guide needs to be completed by Monday, May 8th.
We will be wrapping up our Body Systems Unit next week by taking our Unit Test on Thursday, May 11th. Our final unit will be Genetics. Our focus will be understanding the difference between inherited traits vs. learned behaviors.
