This Week in Class
MATH: We talked about addition patterns, rounding whole numbers, and using mental math for addition and subtraction. We are also working on keeping our papers organized!
WRITING: We continued our personal narrative unit. Students practiced using a storyteller's voice.
READING: We continued our study on reading strategies. We read the short story What About Me and discussed important literary element of sequence. Students had a chance to read the story with the class, with a partner, and then on their own later in the week before were assessed on the story and its elements.
SCIENCE: We began our landform unit. Students discussed the different types of landforms, watched a Brain Pop video, and colored/glued landform cards in their Science Notebooks.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Continuation of our maps unit. Students practiced using latitude and longitude. Students also completed a world map by labeling the continents and oceans.
OTHER: Star Student was Ava, Mt. Saint Helens Meeting on Thursday, and our first fire drill on Friday.

Rainy Day Recess!
As amazing as our rainy day choices may be, nothing beats actually getting outside to run around and have fun. So, because of this, rainy day recess will only be called if there is heavy rain, high winds, or lightning and thunder. This is the Pacific Northwest so we are used to the rain! We ask that you check the weather and send your child to school with weather appropriate clothing.
We appreciate your support on this! Please remember:
