This Week in Class

MATH: We talked about addition patterns, rounding whole numbers, and using mental math for addition and subtraction. We are also working on keeping our papers organized!

WRITING: We continued our personal narrative unit. Students practiced using a storyteller's voice.

Students had a chance to read the story with the class, with a partner, and then on their own later in the week before were assessed on the story and its elements.

SCIENCE: We began our landform unit. Students discussed the different types of landforms, watched a Brain Pop video, and colored/glued landform cards in their Science Notebooks.

Students will have a chance to read the story with the class, with a partner, and then on their own later in the week before were assessed on the story and its elements.

Rainy Day Recess!

As fall makes its entrance, it's important to talk about what will happen during rainy day recess. As a staff, we have been discussing alternatives that include students going to the gym or to the portables for supervised activities. It is so important for the students to have that time away from the classroom so they can get their wiggles out and work on teamwork and communication! It is also important for the teachers to have that time to prepare for lessons.

As amazing as our rainy day choices may be, nothing beats actually getting outside to run around and have fun. So, because of this, rainy day recess will only be called if there is heavy rain, high winds, or lightning and thunder. This is the Pacific Northwest so we are used to the rain! We ask that you check the weather and send your child to school with weather appropriate clothing.

We appreciate your support on this! Please remember:
