EMS S2 Week 13 Announcements
The Know-whats and know-hows at Estacada Middle School
MAP Testing Begins on Monday
The Spring, and final, round of MAP testing (Measurement of Academic Progress) will begin on Monday in Language Arts classes. We will continue next week in Math classes. This is a great opportunity for students, teachers, and families to learn about the growth made throughout the school year, where student strength and weaknesses are, and what to do next. We appreciate your support and dedication to your student's learning. Please reach out to me (hargraveb@estacada.k12.or.us) if you have any concerns. Go Tigers!
Summer School Information is Available
Summer Academy, Escuela de verano, a new resource for families and students, will begin on August 6 and end on August 17. This is an exciting, new program available to our students in grades K-7. If you are interested in this unique opportunity for your student to maintain and strengthen academic skills throughout the Summer, please sign up! Contact our front office (or hudsona@estacada.k12.or.us) if you have any questions. Go Tigers!
Track and Field
This Tuesday, May 1, EMS Track and Field Athletes will take their skills to Centennial Middle School. Students are released from class at 2:45, will leave EMS at 3:00, and will begin the competition at 4:00. Go Tigers!
EMS Fundraises $701.36 for Pennies for Patients
Mr. Hargrave made a deal with our school: For each $100 dollars raised, a student could throw a pie in his face. So, on Friday, April 27, Mr. Hargrave got pied seven times from students. Thank you to Ms. Wood's Advisory, Mr. Kmetic's Advisory, and Mrs. Dyche's Advisory. The Leukemia and Lymphoma society is so happy for our support. Go Tigers!
Smarter Balanced Wrapping Up
Although many of our students are not finished with Smarter Balanced Assessments, students will no longer be taking the assessment in their ELA or Math classes. Instead, students will return to learning in their traditional classrooms and will be "pulled" from electives to finish the SBA.
Progress Reports on Friday 5/4
Progress Reports will be sent out every two weeks. The next push to families is on 5/4, then on 5/18, and lastly on 6/1. Final grades will be sent out on 6/15 with comments from your student's teachers. Please be on the lookout for the progress reports via email. If you need any help, contact the front office. Go Tigers!
Congratulations to Advanced Band (See Picture Above)
Last Tuesday, Mr. Hordichok (alongside two wonderful volunteers) and his Advanced Band students participated in a regional Middle School competition. The results prove there has been significant growth within our students and their music ability. We are proud of our students! Go Tigers!
Aspen Meadow Band
Saturday, May 5 is an exciting date: Aspen Meadow Band (See Image Below) will be playing in our Auditorium at 7:00pm. The event is free and any donated money will be put back into our community to Estacada Together. Estacada Together supports our schools and the Arts here in our community. We are proud to host Aspen Meadow Band. Come out and enjoy the fun and the music!
Washington DC 2018-2019 Parent/Student Information Meeting
Join Mr. Smith at EMS on Thursday, May 3 for an informational meeting about this upcoming school year's trip to DC. This is a trip Mr. Smith has taken students on for two years. This trip is a great opportunity for our students to witness and immerse themselves in the East Coast culture they read about while in Middle School. EMS is proud of Mr. Smith for hosting these trips which are non-affiliated with the school. Please join him at 6:15 on Thursday, May 3rd.
