Help Needed
If your child walks home, please ask them to leave campus as soon as they are dismissed. Some have been hanging around, causing confusion of who still needs to be picked up which makes teachers late for things like Primary Hour and collaboration time. Thank you!
Please also remember that students should not bring toys to school. This includes fidgets that they play with, rather than use as a tool to help them focus. We also ask that Pokeman cards stay home, as trades happening on campus are causing some frustration and hurt feelings amongst students. We appreciate your support on this!
Hawk Walk 'n' Roll
Thank you to everyone who organized the Hawk Walk 'n' Roll, donated and came out to help! We have exceeded our $25,000 goal and donations are still coming in!
If you'd like to contribute, we will accept donations through November 16th:

Thank you for your continued support for your student/s and our Tierra Linda Family ♥

Professional Development
Last week, we participated in a Webinar as a staff with Dr. Dominique Smith, co-author of the book Rebound! It was all about how to support our students and each other as we return more and more to normal.
The afternoon last Monday, and this past Tuesday was spent working on implementation of Restorative Circles and collaborating on how to add even more support to our students in Mathematics.
I love that our Tierra Linda staff has such high expectations of their students, while making sure they support and nurture them every step of the way!
Counselor's Corner
Hello Hawk Families! This Saturday, November 13th is National Kindness Day! We all hope our kids are being treated kindly as well as being kind to others. This week we spend some time talking about how kindness benefits everyone. Kindness is contagious – when people see someone else doing good, they are more likely to do good themselves. Being kind to others can boost your energy and happiness, it helps you have a more positive attitude, it can lower negative feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression, and the truth is that being good to others makes us feel good too! Our students can make themselves and other feels good with small, random acts of kindness.
Here’s some easy ideas on how students can show kindness to others:
- Give someone a compliment. If you like someone’s outfit, let them know!
- Throw away a piece of trash, even if it isn’t yours
- Smile when you pass others in the hallway
- Invite someone to play with you
- Hold the door open for the next person or group
- Offer to do a chore for someone at home
- Write a nice note to someone
- If you can, donate food, gently used clothes, books or other items to a local charity
At school you may have noticed some Tierra Linda teachers and staff wearing kindness themed shirts and sweaters around campus on Wednesdays; it has been such a joy to see some of our students joining in and wearing kindness themed shirts of their own. If you have a kindness shirt of your own, please feel free to join us in wearing it with us on Wednesdays!

Up and Coming
Our next association meeting will be on Tuesday, November 16th at 6:30 pm.
Our counselor, Mrs. Martyniuk will be joining us for this meeting to talk about how we are using Restorative Practices on campus and help you transfer these important communication skills our children are learning into your home.
Please also be sure to collect Virtual Box Tops and sign up for Amazon Smile to help us throughout the year!
For now, all meetings will be held on Zoom. Please mark your calendars!
We also have several events coming up at the end of October and beginning of November listed below. Please be on the lookout for more information.
Spirit wear can be ordered anytime and is delivered to your child on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. We love seeing our kiddos show their Hawk Pride!
Please check out their website for important parent information as well as directions on how to join!

COVID Reminders
Please remember that if your child is showing any of the signs or symptoms of COVID 19, they should stay home. We also ask that you call in to speak to the office if your child has been exposed so we can walk you through the decision-making process of whether or not they should be at school.
A quick reminder from our PVSD 2021-2022 School Operations Plan
Students/Staff who have symptoms and were directed to care for themselves at home may discontinue isolation under the following conditions:
- At least 24 hours have passed since resolution of fever without use of fever reducing medications; AND
- Other symptoms have improved; AND
- They have a negative test for SARS-CoV-2, OR a healthcare provider has provided documentation that the symptoms are typical of their underlying chronic condition (e.g., allergies or asthma) OR a healthcare provider has confirmed an alternative named diagnosis (e.g., Streptococcal pharyngitis, Cosxackie virus), OR at least 10 days have passed since symptom onset.
Any student or staff member who is absent from school/work due to illness must check in to the main office before returning to classroom/work station.
The student/staff member must be assessed and approved to return by the appropriate personnel (someone trained on active assessment for COVID-19 symptoms).
Once approved, they may return to their classroom/work station.
No student or staff member should go directly to the classroom/work station when returning from an absence.
