Sussex Avenue News That You Can Use

Principal's Corner

Love was truly in the air last week! Thank you to Mrs. Gutierrez's class for a beautiful, love filled bulletin board! It makes my heart happy every time I walk by.

Our love of reading is growing by leaps and bounds! Students completed and passed 787 iReady reading lessons so far in February as we continue our monthly Race for Success Challenge. Remind your student that they can participate by completing lessons at home as well as school to help their team get to the finish line.

Quote of the Week

This week's quote was "To bring about change, you must not be afraid to take the first step. We will fail when we fail to try." - Rosa Park

Students spend time discussing this quote throughout the week. They discuss what they believe it means, why they believe the person said it. Finally they reflect on these questions and determine how they can apply it to their lives.

Should your child need to see a doctor for any reason during the school day, we recommend you send your child to school for as much time as possible before or after their appointments.

Please remember to call or email the health office when your child will be sick or late for any reason. You can leave a voicemail 24 hours a day.
