CFNC ACCOUNTS: Students....please create a CFNC account (https://www.cfnc.org/) to help guide you through high school and plan for your futures AFTER high school. (Even if you're not planning to attend college! This is an invaluable tool and will be used throughout your high school career at ASEC! Make sure to list ASEC as your current school) Please ask Mrs. Sherrill if you have any questions.
Sara Hines- MCC Liaison
Here are some questions you may have
- How do I know what classes I am taking? Your planned courses will show up in your timeline on Self Service. The classes there are the ones you are to take.
- How do I register for the fall classes in my plan? On the morning of May 1st (opens at 7:30am) you will get on Self Service and register. If you are not sure how to do this, this video will help you.
- What do the letters in the section number mean? They symbolize where the course will take place. "O's" represent online classes, "S's" represent classes at the main campus in Statesville, "M's" represent classes at the Mooresville campus, and "N's" represent classes at the North Center. If you are still on ASEC campus, select the ones with an N in them.
- Can I take more classes? No, not unless you have gotten overloading permission from Mr. Wells. The schedule you follow puts your high school classes first.
- Are the withdrawal/no show rules the same? YES. You must complete the Mandatory Course Enrollment Activity before the census date for all classes or you will be marked as a no-show. You must not exceed 14 days of inactivity or you will be withdrawn (weekends and holidays still count). If this ever changes we will announce it.
- What if Self-Service crashes? Self Service often crashes on registration day due to the massive activity. Be patient and keep trying to get on the page. I will send out emails if I am made aware of site issues on the day of.
- What if the section I picked fills up? If the section I picked fills up you can look for another. If there are none left you can plan to take it another semester or you can request a different option for me (Underclassmen- you are NOT a priority if this happens... top priority goes to students who need the class to graduate within the standard 5 year plan). Make sure you are picking sections that don't overlap in time and allow you to be in one campus (not half classes in Statesville and half in Mooresville) if at all possible.
- Can I take online classes? You are only permitted to take half online classes and never a core class (science english math) unless you have spoken with Mr. Wells about it.
- Will you register for me, Hines? No- you register yourself. If you have issues I will be at my ASEC location on registration day and I will not be scheduling advising appointments that day so I can be available for issues.
I THINK those are most of the questions you would have. If you have more please ask in an email.
I am going to reply-all to this message every day until Monday for reminders (including Sunday).
Cheers and happy registration season, everyone!
