Welcome to the weekly newsletter for Tison Middle School! The goal for this newsletter is to provide information on Tison programs, activities, and events for students, parents, and our community.


Tuesday, Jan. 19 & 20 -- An NGC counselor will be here on campus to help the remaining 8th grade students complete their four year plans. The counselor will visit the students in their Keyboarding class.

The deadline for ordering your 2015 -2016 yearbook is quickly approaching. The last to order is January 22nd. You can order online at www.balfour.com. Type in Tison Middle school and click on yearbook to follow the prompts to order. You can also use cash or check by getting an order form envelope from Ms. Riney in the attendance office or Mrs. Fenton in room 204. Order yours now. Extras will not be available in May to purchase at that time.

Find Out Your MAPtitude at the Tison Geography Bee!

Which continent includes the Jutland and Iberian peninsulas? Sikkim, a region between Nepal and Bhutan, is part of what country? These are just a sample of the type of questions the participants of the Tison Geography Bee must face!

Those Tison students who are fearless in the face of geography will compete in the Tison Geography Bee this coming Friday, January 22nd at 1:30 PM in the Tison Library.

A BIG Welcome to Two New Members of the Tison Cafeteria Staff!

We have two new staff members, Mr. Henry Lucera, who started in November, and Mrs. Sherry Crites, who started last week. Welcome to Tison!

24th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay/Artistic Expression Contest

Two Tison students -- Isabella Vandygriff (7th) and Michaela Bosco (7th) -- were chosen as winners in both the essay and artistic expression categories in the 24th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay/Artistic Expression Contest. The students, along with their families, will receive recognition at the 24th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, January 18th at Hall Middle School at 5:30 PM. CONGRATULATIONS!


Kayla Host, 8th Grader

A member of the Tison staff described Kayla as a hard worker along with being creative and a great help to others.

In order to get to know Kayla a little better, she completed a student version of the questionnaire - "20 Questions in 60 Seconds". Below are her answers:

I would travel to Japan with my two best friends.

8. What do you want to be when you get older? Why?

A zoologist, so then I can work with animals.

I wish I could perform CPR.

Science and ELA

12. Do you prefer to spend your time inside or outside?

Inside, for the most part.

13. What do you like to do as soon as you get home from school?

Start reading.

14. What is your favorite TV show? Why?

Beauty and the Beast, because it's a modern take on the classic fairy tale.

15. What is your favorite movie? Why?

Avengers: Age of Ultron, because the threat of the antagonist effected the whole world and the Avengers had a much more difficult time containing the threat.

16. What is the best toy that you ever had?

A Han Solo bobble head.

17. What is your favorite restaurant?

Blu Jasmine

18. Who has the best kids' meal toys right now?

I wish I knew, but I don't really eat fast food.

19. What is your favorite book?

The Seven Realms series

20. What is your favorite video game?

Pokemon Platinum
