The Warhill ROAR
May 7, 2023
Principal's Corner
Good afternoon, Warhill Families,
As a reminder, SOL testing for large groups of students begins this Friday, May 12th. Student attendance on test days is imperative to avoid the need for make-up testing and to ensure that they are present for all the in-class preparation. We will enter "testing mode" for the month of May. This means that we will ask teachers and students to limit time out of class and stay mindful of the testing environment to keep distractions at a minimum. Thank you in advance for your support of student attendance and focus on end-of-course testing.
Please note that Interim 4 reports will be available on StudentVUE and ParentVUE on Tuesday, May 9th. Please encourage your student to finish strong!

Let's Celebrate
Warhill PTSA Garage Sale - May 13th
The PTSA is planning a garage sale on Saturday, May 13th from 8 to noon to help raise money to fund our $1,500 scholarship for a Warhill senior, as well as staff and student appreciation activities. We will be accepting donations from the Pride throughout the week, so as you clean out your garage and closets, remember your trash is someone else’s treasure! Just drop your donation off at the office from Monday through Friday and plan to come buy some new treasures on the 13th! If you would like to send in some baked goods on Friday, May 12th, that would be appreciated, as well! Our “shoppers” would surely appreciate some morning treats!

General Information and Reminders
SOL Testing Season is HERE!
End-of-Course SOL testing is fast approaching, and student attendance is imperative. Remediation by content begins this week and there are some in-school and after school opportunities. Please see below for the SOL Remediation Schedule. The testing calendar can also be found below, and general testing begins May 12th. If your student requires a specific SOL to meet graduation requirements, please ensure that they are present on their testing date(s). Students will need to bring a charged laptop each day of testing! If you have any questions about SOL testing, please email Ms. Vermeire, WHS School Improvement Specialist, at stephanie.vermeire@wjccschools.org.
Attendance Matters!
- This week, we will hold attendance assemblies with students who have 10 or more absences to share resources and stress the importance of finishing the year strong and here. A message will be shared with families following the assembly with additional information.
- In an effort to streamline ways for families to share attendance notes, you can now submit a note directly through the ParentVUE app. I have attached the directions below for your review.
- Thank you for continuing to encourage your student to attend on time each day! This is a very important time of year, as we get closer to SOL, AP and end-of-course assessments.

We are Warhill! Showing P.R.I.D.E. in our Community
As you know, Warhill has amazing students that participate in clubs, activities and athletics throughout the school year. But so many of our students also contribute to and shine in the greater community. In 2023, Warhill wants to add recognition opportunities for all the great things our students are doing outside the halls of Warhill High School. Please complete and submit The Warhill P.R.I.D.E. in our Community form to share how your Warhill Lion is showing P.R.I.D.E. in our community.
Scouts BSA Troop 20 for Girls is selling graduation yard signs to help families celebrate their graduating seniors. Signs will be ready for delivery/pick-up the week of May 22nd and we will email families with that information.
Proceeds from the sale will help our scouts attend Philmont Scout Ranch this summer. Warhill High School is the home of several of our scouts to include Michelle Schroeder and Sarah Cook. Both of them are part of our Philmont Crew and have been hard at work preparing for our adventure this summer.
Please consider ordering a sign today to celebrate your graduating senior AND support our Warhill students throughout the community.

Reminders and Updates:
Free online tutoring: Free, live virtual tutoring available to WJCC secondary students
- WJCC Schools has partnered with FEV Tutor to provide free, live virtual support for all secondary students in math, English language arts, science and/or social studies. Students can schedule regular tutoring sessions in advance or access 24/7 on-demand help with coursework and homework.
- Students can access FEV Tutor by logging in to Canvas and clicking the FEV link from the left-hand menu on any of their courses, or by navigating directly to fevtutor.com. A student’s username is their school email address and password is the student’s ID number.
- Support is live and personalized to each student’s needs. Support is delivered via virtual whiteboard and text-based chat. While the session whiteboard and chat transcript are recorded for accountability and for the student to refer back to as needed, the program does not involve device cameras or microphones. Students will be able to share their screens and upload documents to review with tutors, and tutors only have access to student work provided by the individual student.
