Thankful Turpin

From my family to yours, I wanted to wish you a very restful and thankful Thanksgiving holiday! Being the principal at Riverview has blessed me in more than one way and I am VERY thankful for the Riverview community and all of the students that make up our beautiful building!

RE Lost & Found

Missing a jacket, water bottle, glasses or any other miscellaneous item your kiddo could have left here at school? Please feel free to come take a look in our lost and found bins in the front office before Thanksgiving break......because after that we will be donating all items to a local donation spot. Our bins are overflowing up here and it is only November! We will need to make more room as the year is still not over.

Holiday Charity Drive

Many holiday memories are made around a festive holiday meal, however, this year more than 387,000 people in Kansas City will not have the food to do so. To help bring joy to hungry families this holiday season, Riverview Elementary will be hosting a food drive to provide the comforts and trimmings of a holiday meal! Each grade will be assigned specific food items to bring in, and the grade that brings in the most will earn an extra recess! Take a look at the posters around school to find out what food items have been assigned to your grade and bring in the items to donate the week after Thanksgiving. If all students bring in at least 2 items, we estimate we can pack 80 holiday meal boxes! Thank you for helping those in need!

K- 2 cans green beans

1- 2 cans corn

2- 2 cans sweet potatoes

3- 1 can cranberry sauce, 1 can cream of mushroom soup

4- 1 box cornbread mix, 1 box stuffing

5- 1 box instant mashed potatoes, 1 packet gravy

BoxTops for Riverview!

Turning in your BoxTops to benefit RE PTA is even easier this year! There are 3 ways you can contribute:

1. Download the app, register your name and choose Riverview Shawnee, KS as the school to send your earnings. After shopping, use the app to scan your receipt. The app will pick up any product that qualifies and automatically credit them to Riverview.

2. Doing online grocery orders with an emailed receipt? Just forward that email to receipts@boxtops4education.com (Important: you must have previously registered through the app to tie your email to your selected school for this option).

3. Physical Box Top clippings can still be turned in as long as they aren’t expired. You can tape them to any sheet of paper or save them in a ziplock bag to send in to school with your child. If you have any questions, please reach out to Stacy Schmidtlein at semontee@hotmail.com.

With most BoxTop products being digital, the app is essential in taking advantage of all potential earnings. Thank you for your support!

Amazon Smile

Did you know your Amazon shopping can benefit Riverview Elementary? Just shop via Amazon Smile at smile.amazon.com/ch/48-1171703 and Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases back to Riverview!

AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same prices, same service. WIN-WIN for our school!

Carloop Names

Now that the months are getting colder and we know we will be having a lot more car riders vs. walkers. Please make sure that you have either labeled on a piece of paper or folder written large and legible, the student's name of the student you are picking up after school. By doing this, this helps to make the pickup process go faster and smoother as our teacher callers can quickly identify student's cars to have them come out to be picked up.

Thank you in advance for helping after school pick up become more efficient!

If you could spare a few......

As we are are gearing up for colder months and weather, we have noticed our extra masks dwindling here in the office. If by chance you have some extra child size disposable masks laying around at home OR have access to extras, Riverview Office staff would gladly take those off of your hands.

I would also like to remind families to please make sure you student is bringing a mask to wear daily! It also would not hurt to have a couple of extra in their backpacks as well.....you never know what the day will bring!

CrossWalk Safety Reminder

Safety First is our motto here at Riverview, which means PLEASE make sure that you walking or you are having your students walk down to the school's designated crosswalk areas. Our 47th street is a VERY busy road, which is why we have designated crosswalk areas that we specifically position staff members there to help with the safety of all students. I wish I had the man power to staff all Riverview community passageways, but that is just not the case. So while it might save you or your kiddos a few extra steps to cut across, that is certainly not a safer option and we need you to cross at the designated crosswalk areas.

Thank you for helping keep our safety at Riverview Top Priority!

Peanut FREE School.....Reminder

Just a friendly reminder that we are a peanut FREE school here at Riverview. With birthday celebrations and upcoming fall parties, I thought I would attach our peanut free approved foods list. Please note that this is a working document and if you find another food or bakery location that meets the peanut free requirements, we would be happy to add that to our list to share out with other families!

Thank you again for helping keep all the kiddos here at RE safe and healthy!
