PCHS Weekly Updates
December 3, 2021
Message from Principals McBride & Woods
PCHS Community,
While so much about this week in our great state of Michigan felt unsettling, we sincerely hope students felt as safe and supported as possible within our school walls. We will continue to do everything in our power to tend to our school environment in ways that ensure safety and that influence a culture where everyone is looking out for one another.
We are proud of our students for speaking up and for speaking out, as evidenced by the large number of students who joined in on the opportunity to co-sign a student-written communication to representatives in Congress expressing a desire to be a part of the solution to ending gun violence in schools. Pirates are inspiring and motivated, and it is a beautiful thing to support.
We've also seen this week how quickly social media behavior can have a widespread impact on the school climate. Thank you for your continued vigilance in supporting your child's responsible digital decision-making.
To our staff: Thank you. Classrooms truly are their own little micro-communities, developing one class period at a time. We are blessed to have teachers who embrace this responsibility and opportunity with care and empathy. Your commitment in the smooth times to the really challenging ones is a testament to your character and your passion for this field of education we all devote ourselves to.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. McBride & Mrs. Woods
Come Out to NautiMi TONIGHT to Support Bringing Certified Therapy Dogs to PCS!
We are pleased to announce a new district-wide project that will continue to support our students. Pinckney Community Schools has decided to begin the process that will bring certified therapy dogs to all schools in our district. Therapy dogs in schools support learning by decreasing anxiety, increasing positivity, and bringing students companionship.
To help support this project, we are partnering with NautiMI, a locally owned ice cream and gift store, to begin raising the necessary funds. NautiMi is donating a portion of the proceeds from all purchases TONIGHT, December 3, 2021 at the store located at 9620 McGregor Road.
How can you help? Please stop and shop at NautiMi TONIGHT, December 3 between 4:00-8:00pm. Their locally sourced gifts and delicious ice cream treats will be a delight in this holiday season.
Thank you for your support.

In the Event of Quarantine - How to Engage in Learning from Afar
All of our teachers are using Google Classroom this year. Google Classrooms will be updated regularly and in a way that students can access resources and assignments from anywhere with the internet.
Every teacher's Google Classroom will be organized in the following ways:
- A daily agenda posted in the Stream (which is the landing page of the Classroom), and potentially in the Classwork area
- Syllabus posted in a Classroom Materials section in Classwork
- Resources and assignments organized in a logical manner in Classwork (i.e. by day, week, unit, or project)
We will be working together as a staff to continue to improve our Google Classroom approach so that students can continue their learning with relative ease if quarantined. Your feedback will continue to be appreciated to inform this process.
A Note Re: Quarantine Attendance
Students in quarantine will have their attendance proactively entered by our Main Office. It will be marked with an "M" with the note of Covid quarantine, so teachers know this is the situation and can support these students accordingly.
A reminder that the best defense against quarantine is vaccination!
