The Tech Team is Growing!
The current fifth grade members of the elementary teams will be moving up to join the new Junior High Tech Team. Over the next week, I will be selecting 6th and 7th grade students to join them.
Code.org Pilot: Week 3
Going Digital
Many of the Code.org lessons up to this point have been "unplugged." Therefore, there has been minimal use of the iPad. The "unplugged" lessons are wonderful, but I think the students were getting antsy to actually code on a device.
Pair Programming
Students worked in groups of 2. One student was the driver and the other was the navigator. Together they used an algorithm to help the angry bird reach the pig. I was unsure how the pair programming would work, but it was a huge success. Many students were able to address their own questions without having to ask me.
3 Lessons!
Generally, I have only been able to get through one lesson at a time with the "unplugged" activities. The students, now moving at their own pace with puzzles, were able to get through three lessons. It was awesome to see how quickly they were zipping through the challenges.
