SLCS District Update

Superintendent's Update
Good evening SLCS Families and Staff Members,
Today students from SLHS and South Lyon East participated in the annual Senior Day of Service.
At SLHS students cleaned, sorted and counted coins. The coins were retrieved from the Make A Wish fountain at the Detroit Zoo. The coins will be rolled and taken to a local bank. In the end, a check in the amount of the money collected will be forwarded to the Make A Wish Foundation.
Students from South Lyon East visited SLCS elementary and middle schools. This was an opportunity for graduating seniors to give back to their former school. Middle school students had a chance to hear a little about the high school experience. Students visiting the elementary schools read stories, helped with work, played games, and much more. As you can see from the pictures below, the visits were welcomed and appreciated.
A large number of seniors at each school participated and made today a huge success. These students chose to give their time, energy, and effort to make a positive difference for their school and community. This speaks to the generous, caring, and humble nature of SLCS students. Great work!
SLCS Proud!

Superintendent

NetSmartz Internet Safety Presentation for Parents, Guardians, and Communities
This presentation, provided by a U.S. Secret Service Agent, is part of the Childhood Smart Program. This program was created in partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), to help educate about computer and personal safety. The child safety experts at NCMEC create educational resources and the Secret Service helps to share these resources with schools and communities across the nation. One of those resources is the NetSmartz Internet Safety Presentation for Parents, Guardians, and Communities.
The NetSmartz Internet Safety Presentation for Parents, Guardians and Communities, addresses issues students may encounter online; namely, inappropriate content, online privacy, sexting, online enticement, and cyberbullying. The presentation is designed for adult members of the community and contains some potentially sensitive or emotional content, which is not appropriate for younger children. Additional information about the NetSmartz presentation series can be found on the NCMEC website: https://www.missingkids.org.
