Orana Catholic Primary School
Term 2, Week 2, 2021.
Dear Parents and Carers
The Prayer of Hope above invites us to walk with Jesus as people of hope. As a faith community we hope and prayer for those impacted by Covid19, both here and afar. We thank parents, carers, students and staff for embracing the interim restrictions to ensure our school community remains safe. We will continue to be agile in our efforts as required to continue quality teaching and learning in a healthy and safe environment. Restrictions will ease slightly next week with a requirement for masks for adults in public indoor spaces and in public outdoor places where it isn’t possible to physically distance (eg. at events).
Last night, the School Advisory Council (formally known as the School Board) met. We invited our council members to work together to brainstorm the meaning of Generosity. This is the Gospel Value that we are focussing on this year. We highly regard the input of our parents and carers and acknowledge the importance of their support in working towards our School Improvement Goals, one of which is centred around Generosity. If you would like to share your thoughts on Generosity, please click on the link below.
This data will be compiled alongside the data of students and staff, and will be used to plan our next step in answering our essential focus question “How can we live a generous life?”
The safety of our students as they transition from school to home is of upmost importance. The procedures that are established are in place to ensure all students can safely and efficiently transition from school to home. Students collection points are outside classrooms, in the quadrangle, at the back gate or at the green shed drive through line. Students are not to wait near the verge near the office between 3.10pm and 3.30pm. Students waiting in this area will be directed back through the school to the green shed. This area is not supervised and is not a drive through pick up area. Stopping here to collect students causes safety concerns and inhibits the flow of traffic in this area.
This week, we commenced enrolment interviews for Kindergarten students beginning in 2022. It is delightful to meet our potential new families and to hear of the positive wider community perspective of our school. We have received 50 applications to date, so spaces are becoming limited. If you have a child that is due to start Kindergarten in 2022, please complete an enrolment form as soon as possible.
Catholic schooling is available to all parents seeking Catholic education for their children.
Priority for enrolment into Orana Catholic Primary School is as follows:
1. Catholic students from the Parish with a Parish Priest reference
2. Catholic students from outside the Parish with a Parish Priest reference
3. Other Catholic students
4. Siblings of non-Catholic students
5. Non-Catholic students from other Christian denominations
6. Other non-Catholic students.
The latest Term 2 calendar can be found on our website.
Any changes or updates will be added to the Events Calendar also on our website.
Enjoy the long weekend and God bless

Vinnies Good Night In
Vinnies Good Night In, is an exciting and fun new event designed to bring friends and families together; whilst raising money for a good cause.
We know that having close relationships, being connected and having a support network of people around you are so incredibly important; especially when times are tough. For many Western Australians who experience financial hardship, don’t have secure housing or suffer loneliness and isolation, their only means of support is often Vinnies WA.
On Friday May 7, we encourage families in our Orana community to spend a Good Night In by hosting an event with your family at home.
During the evening at 7pm, you will be able to connect with St Vinnies by viewing their live stream, and by participating in the event you will learn how you can make a difference to the lives of vulnerable Western Australians; who are supported through the Vinnies WA Emergency Assistance Program.
Every little bit of support your school can offer can add up to a whole lot of good. Please go to https://donate.vinnies.org.au/appeals-wa/good-night-in
