An email will go out on January 20th from the district that will tell you which group you are in (Group A or Group B).
Late next week you should be able to see your 2nd-semester schedule in PowerSchool.
For those students returning to in-person instruction:
To keep you safe, the counselors will continue to be available through:
- drop-in office hours (link is on Schoology)
- Teams (chat or video/audio conference)
- Schoology messages
- Phone calls
- Additionally, in-person for an immediate personal concern (more details next week on this option).

Freshman
Midterms are January 20, 21 & 22 - Be Prepared! Freshmen often underestimate the amount of time and effort that it will take to successfully prepare for midterm exams. Parents can help students establish good homework skills and help minimize stress. Study Skill recommendations can be found at: https://cvhs9guidance.weebly.com/academic.html
PLAN AHEAD + STUDY EFFECTIVELY = ACE YOUR MIDTERM EXAMS!
- GET ORGANIZED!
- Organize your papers and notes - have study guides, old tests & quizzes available to review
- Study each night for minimum for 1-2 hours, a minimum of 20 minutes per subject. Set a daily schedule, a time that works best for you - keeping regular study hours.
2. MAKE STUDYING YOUR JOB - Study efficiently!
- Stay distraction free! (Turn off TV, phones, computers; find a quiet, well-lit place to study)
- Use note cards! Consider using 3x5 note cards to turn class/reading notes into questions on one side of the card & answers on the other. As you review, separate the ones that you know from the ones that you don't. https://quizlet.com/ is a great resource for online notecards!
- Take breaks every 45 minutes - get a drink of water and/or go for a quick walk.
- Seek help from your teachers!
3. WHAT TO DO THE DAY OF THE TEST!
- Get a good night sleep, eat a good breakfast (seems basic - but it HELPS!)
- Try and relax - be prepared and start on time.
- Read directions carefully and budget your time.
- For objective (true/false; multiple choice) tests read each question twice before answering.
- For essay & short answer questions - cover only the points asked in the question, think before you write, consider outlining your thoughts if allowed
- Before submitting your test, check it carefully. If time, ask yourself: Did I follow the directions? Are there any spelling/grammatical errors? Did I answer each question fully?
