Ready for Dr. Suess Night?
If you weren't planning on coming, please reconsider. If you are planning on coming, please consider switching jobs to a job that might be undermanned.
Please talk to Beth if you can help or are willing to help in a different way!
Dr. Thompson Listening Lunch is March 7
Melodrama is May 23-24
We've only practiced 3 times so far, but I think you'll like the performance! It will be worth the price of admission to see which voice Joyce uses for her character (we've heard both a Southern accent and an English accent so far)!
Mark your calendars now!

Budget Concerns
I know some of this is due to the fact that we have a new Language Arts program. However, the fact is that we are quite a bit over budget on copies and laminating. As you know, our annual budget is pretty tight, and we've also just spent a good chunk of our contingency budget on technology.
In addition, our PTO has been very generous. But, in addition to contributing $3,000 to our technology project, they have also run over budget on a number of their projects, including the Christmas bags, Family Feast, and Dr. Seuss Night.
We will not be purchasing any more laminating film this year. What I DON'T want to happen is for you to all start laminating everything in sight, so you get it done before we're out. INSTEAD, I'd like you to thoughtfully consider if your stuff can wait until next fall to be laminated or if it needs to be laminated at all.
APL Tip of the Week--Check for Understanding of Directions
It focuses on getting our students to move from being "non-listeners" to "listeners."
Step 1: Say the directions once or have the student read the directions if they are printed.
Step 2: Check for Understanding--ask students to pair-share the directions AND
Step 3: Put them on the Clock (give students the time alloted)
Step 4: Bring them back on time and call on them to tell the class the directions. Call on them in this order: the pairs you talked to or interviewed, then the "randoms" and then the "volunteers."
Step 5: Now give them the students the amount of time they will have to complete the assignment.
