Christmas Around the World

Students in Ms. McMunn's 3rd grade class worked collaboratively to research how other countries celebrate Christmas. This required students to use research skills, collaboration, compromise and inserting their information into a shared Google Slide presentation.

We would like for you to VOTE for your favorite group presentation. Please keep in mind that students just started using technology this school year and have come a long, long way with their knowledge and use of technology in the classroom.

1st Grade Embraces Technology!

Ms. McCollum and Ms. Bates, both first grade teachers at Elkmont High School, have jumped onto the technology train the past few weeks.

Ms. Bates checked out the class set of MacBooks to let her students participate in Hour of Code. They had such a fun time and did so well using the MacBooks that Ms. Bates has checked them out again for more learning activities with technology components.

Ms. McCollum's first grade students jumped right into using the class set of MacBooks this week to progress in their individual areas of need with Compass! This is such a great way to individualize the curriculum to meet each students needs.

Tech Tuesdays Come To Elkmont

Limestone County School's Digital Passport Initiative will put MacBooks into the hands of every student in grades 3-12 in just a few short years. Teachers at Elkmont have the opportunity to get ahead of the curve and learn about how to use this technology in their classrooms to support curricular needs by attending weekly Tech Tuesday PD sessions.

The first Tech Tuesday session will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in Ms. Roop's room from 3:00-4:00. The topic of this first session will be: How You & Your Students Can Access Your School Google Account.

Polar Express Day

Third grade put on its annual Polar Express Day. Third grade students and teachers wore their comfy jammies to school, got tickets to board the Polar Express, enjoyed hot chocolate and donuts while watching the Polar Express. Afterwards students went around the school singing Christmas Carols. It was a delightful day for everyone!
