What's Happening at the "D"
V6 #4 2019/2020
A note from the Principal...
As we roll in to the school year, I hope we were successful at putting the pieces together for a fun start of school! As a staff, we all go into this wanting to do our best to help families and students feel comfortable with the start of a new year. Since all students are different, it takes some students longer to get used to the routines and the structure of school, and that is OK! Children will look to us for cues on how to adjust, so it's very important to re-assure our students that our school is a safe place to learn!
It's also important that you keep in touch with your child's teacher. We take our job very seriously, and, as experts, we hope you will trust us. Most of our staff has been teaching for many years, and we keep up to date on learning initiatives new ideas in education.
It is impossible to re-create "elementary school life" at home or even at a pre-school, so if a teacher shares something about your child's behavior or learning, and it is something you have never seen before at home or at pre-school, we understand. We want to work as a team to help with the adjustment, so we may contact you to help us, since you know your child best.
It was nice to see so many families at Open House! It was a full gym, which shows that you value education and care about school involvement. Our first PTCG meeting is October 8th at 7pm. Hope to see you there!
This is a great time to be a DeKeyser Dolphin!
With gratitude,
Mary Beth Merlo
