The Weekly Roar
Notes from Nick Novak: Sunday May 21, 2017
Kudos
...to student services for putting together an outstanding Senior Awards program. It was great to celebrate so many deserving students. And what a speech by senior teacher of the year Tyler Petrini. Very inspirational!
...to Mia Ayres and Kyle Evans for making prom a memorable experience for everyone who attended. Without the hot air balloons and traffic we had last year, it was a great night. Thanks as well to all the chaperones who helped look out for our students and ensure that they had a safe night.
FYI
Here's some important info for the week ahead:
1) MP 4 interims should be entered into Synergy by COB on Monday.
2) Graduation is Tuesday 5/23 at 8am. Please follow the email I sent regarding duties, leave, or reporting to work on that day. Thanks.
3) The AP Summit will take place on Wednesday 5/24 and 5/25. Jon Hollander sent out information regarding the schedule and passes for students are in your mailbox. Thanks for supporting this initiative.
4) As we begin end of the year conferences, I want to take a moment to remind you of the changes to the teacher evaluation system we shared at the beginning of the year:
- Professional practice (four domains) are worth 80% and your one SLO is worth 20%.
- Carryover scores are determined by multiplying the "old" carryover score by 1.6.
- Highly effective is 10-12; effective is between 7 and 10; and ineffective is less than 7.
- Some people, especially those with carryover scores, may see a lower rating than last year due to professional practice being more heavily weighted.
