Year 6 Debate Team
WE WON! Our incredibly talented and devoted debate team attended the Selby District Youth Debating Competition. They had the choice of three themes on which to focus their debate. They chose to argue for and against the question ‘Does the internet do more harm than good?’ Our team worked collaboratively to perfect their sides to this debate over several weeks. Following this, the two nominated speakers took time to internalise their speeches and prepare for the onslaught of questions. Meanwhile, the rest of the team built up their knowledge and understanding of the other two themes in preparation for questioning the other schools. Our children were simply stunning. They not only presented well, questioned respectfully but showed huge professionalism which collectively, contributed to our win, beating nine other schools in attendance. The children are thrilled to be through to the regional heat. Well done South Milford!
Hockey
We are very impressed with the six Year 4 hockey players who proudly represented South Milford on Wednesday at Read Drax School. The children played as a team and always encouraged each other with kind reassuring words. The scores are as follows
Tockwith: 0 South Milford: 2
Staynor Hall: 0 South Milford: 5
Barlow: 0 South Milford: 2
Riccall: 0 South Milford: 0
Read School Drax: 0 South Milford: 2
Overall South Milford came first out of all 45 schools in Selby. This means they are through to the level 3 event and they will represent the district. We wish them the best of luck. Thank you to Harry’s family who helped transport the team.
Sir Scallywag
Reception and Key Stage 1 have an absolutely amazing time at the Sir Scallywag concert today! The Ensemble 360 were so inspirational with their fantastic performance! The children all joined in the songs brilliantly too, and behaved beautifully. We hope that there will be an opportunity to see live musicians again in the future!

Sports Relief
We have loved every minute of Sports Relief week and have taken each and every opportunity to push ourselves to new limits. This week the children have experienced a series of new activities led by specialists. Street dance allowed them to showcase their most funky moves, football skills ensured they used footwork carefully and dodgeball allowed the children to pull together as a team. Seeing the children dress up in their sportswear has been a true joy and we are sad to see the back of Sports Relief. We hope the children will continue to push themselves when they are involved in physical activity.
