President's Corner by Cree Sanford
We are on almost on home stretch of the school year. Only 7 more Monday’s left!! Our 25th Anniversary Movie Night was a huge success for Copeland and a wonderful community event! We raised over $5,000 with most of that coming from those wonderful silent auction baskets! Thank you to all who donated and who pitched in to help with this fun family event!! Special THANK YOU to LaKishia Edwards and Stephanie Peters for heading this event. Great job Ladies!!
Do you have some special skills that you use in your everyday life and are ready to share them with Copeland?.... We are currently looking for volunteers to fill chairman positions for the 2018-2019 school year. These programs directly benefit our children, teachers, and staff here at Copeland. It is a great way to become involved, have fun, and meet other volunteers. Keep in mind that if the job seems like more than you want to take on yourself, pick a friend and sign up to be co-chairs! Please email me at cree410@yahoo.com if you are interested in any of the positions below.
• Colonial Day for 5th grade – If you are a history buff this is the job for you!! This is a fun day for our 5th graders where they get to dress up and learn all about Colonial America. The 5th grade HRC’s run each station, but we need someone in charge to organize everything. This is typically handled by a 5th grade parent and usually takes place in October or November.
• Memory Book for 5th grade – Are you a former scrap booker turned Shutterfly Enthusiast? Are you a pro at creating photo books for friends and family? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this may be the thing for you! Memory Book is a special sort of yearbook exclusively for our 5th graders. They talk about their favorite memories at Copeland, favorite teachers, and we get to see their Elementary career in pictures from Kinder all the way through 5th grade. We need someone to help organize this and create this memorable masterpiece!Again, typically handled by a 5th grade parent.
Thank you for volunteering to make Copeland such a special school, we could not do it without you!!!
a big thank you to our cub scouts!
Movie Night was a Huge Success!
Thank you so much to all of our families and community friends that came out to help us celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Copeland Elementary at our Movie Night and Silent Auction. This event was a huge success. We could not have done it without the support and donations from our families and staff members. We know all of the students had a blast! Thanks again for your support.

Volunteer of the month
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Activities
The year is flying by, but we also always need volunteers and helpers year round. If you do have ability to volunteer on a more regular basis, there are plenty of opportunities. You can learn about SRC (Science Resource Center), which is an excellent resource not only for the students, but for parents too. If you are able to volunteer for this, I promise you will learn something too! Please contact our SRC Chair Selina Sauceda at selina.sauceda@gmail.com for more info.
The library always needs volunteers, as do art and music. Please let me know if you want more information.
If you have any questions or comments regarding our VIPS program or would like to volunteer, please contact me at 713-829-0638 or mmcgah@gmail.com.
Thank you to everyone that came out for our movie night!! Everyone had a great time and our volunteers were spectacular as usual.
