Gifts For Him, Gifts For Her, Gifts For Mom
Mother’s Day 2016
Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Even though every day should be like Mother’s Day for your mom, because face it, you’re her world, that’s awesome enough. However, it’s always nice to get her something just to show her you are thinking of her on this extra special day. Why is it extra special you ask? Well, not everyone gets to celebrate it. It’s only for mothers. It’s for the person who carried you for 9 months, who you made throw up, who couldn’t consume numerous things during her pregnancy because of you, whose world you completely turned upside down and changed. She became #2. You became #1. You changed her body, hormones, diet, sleeping habits, and she gave you life. That’s pretty impressive if you ask me. Oh did I mention she cooked, cleaned, and wiped you the first few years of your life? Changing a baby’s diaper is not the highlight of having a kid. Believe me, I’ve changed enough diapers and I don’t even have kids of my own yet.
Growing up your mom was probably the one driving you to all your extracurricular activities. She was the one who took care of you when you were sick. The meals were mostly made by her or all of them. She made sure you got to school on time, had breakfast, had a lunch packed for you, signed all of your permission slips and had them in a sealed envelope, etc.
Before you know it you’re a teenager and trying to be more independent, but you still need your mom. You can’t afford to live on your own, because your after school job just isn’t going to cut it. You argue with her about who you’re dating, how late you’ve been staying out, and your future. What are you going to do with your life? She motivates you to apply for college and scholarships because extra money never hurt anyone.
It’s move in day at school. You are beyond excited! You are all grown up and ready to be out on your own. Your mom was especially quiet in the car. Everything is moved into your dorm. It’s a long ride home so your parents are about to leave. You see the hurt in your mom’s eyes and you feel it too. She leans in and gives you a big hug and kiss on the cheek. “I love you,” she says. “And I’ll always be here for you.”
