Description
- A blue bird with hints of gray in it's plumage.
-has a grayish almost black beak
- their heads are almost a lighter shade of blue than their rest of their bodies
History
-discovered in 1688 by German naturalist Johann Baptist Von Spix
-native to Brazil
-Its habitat is restricted to the Caating dry forest of northwestern Brazil
-It's strict diet could only been found in the forest of Brazil
Actions to save the species
-Due to deforestation, it has become extinct in the wild
-It is maintained only through captive breeding program
-They are several projects underway to restore the species in the wild but the habitats need to be restored before any advancements can be made.
