This Week at MHS
Here's what's happening October 25th-29th!
Dear MHS Parents and Students,
Have you checked PowerSchool lately? If not, please take a moment to see the current academic progress and attendance of your students. There is no time like the present to talk with teachers regarding any concerns you may have.
Congratulations to our Volleyball team for an outstanding season. We are proud of all that you have accomplished this year!
Our ladies' soccer team played Saturday night at Science Hill. It was a hard fought battle, but the Hilltoppers ended our pursuit of the state tournament. Your hard work and dedication has shown all season long. Proud of you Rebels!
Don't forget to check out the Counselor's Corner below!
The MHS payment deadline for AP exams is this Friday, October 29th. If payment is not received by the deadline, your student will be dropped from the fall AP exam order. MHS will invoice students for spring coursework in early February. With questions, please contact Jennifer.abernathy@maryville-schools.org.
Wishing everyone a great week at MHS!

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
A reminder to senior parents that some college deadlines (particularly Early Decision or Early Action) are approaching quickly. Once your child submits an application, please remind him/her to indicate that in the SCOIR platform so counselors can send transcripts and other supporting documents.
The deadline to complete the TN Promise Scholarship application is November 1, 2021. No exceptions! Please visit tnpromise.gov for more information and to apply.
Applications for the 2022 Governor’s School programs are now available. The TN Governor’s Schools provide 11 challenging and high-intensity programs which are hosted at area colleges for a short time during the summer. Only sophomore and junior students are able to apply. MHS can nominate high-achieving 10th and 11th grade students who are in the top 5-10% of their graduation cohort for these competitive, academic summer programs. The MHS deadline for Governor’s School application packets is Friday, November 19. Late submissions will not be considered for Governor’s School nominations. Please note: if the application requires a teacher recommendation, encourage your child to have a face-to-face conversation with the recommending teacher BEFORE giving them the recommendation form. The teacher must be given at least 10 school days to complete the recommendation. Therefore, the recommendation form must be in his/her hand by November 5 in order to meet the November 19 MHS school deadline. All Governor's School packets will be finalized by students' assigned school counselor. Please instruct your child to complete all steps in the packet and turn everything in to his/her assigned counselor by November 19. For more information about individual Governor's Schools and to access the applications, please access the link here: https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/education/instruction/tdoe-governors-schools.html?mc_cid=0193dfbaba&mc_eid=92885cfccd
