Lago Vista Middle School
Excellence In All We Do 10/30/20
Attention Bus Riders!
As you know, students moving between face-to-face and remote instruction is to be expected this year. The number of students riding our bus routes not only changes each 9 weeks, due to required periods of isolation and quarantine, ridership changes from day to day. Although we are working to keep pickup and dropoff times as consistent as possible, we ask that parents please prepare for buses to arrive within a 10-15 minute window on either side of the established pickup/dropoff time.
For more information on transportation services, including how to look up your student's bus route information, please visit http://www.lagovistaisd.net/page/transportation.home.
As always, we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to meet the needs of our students and families!

Balancing Act
PSAT, November 19
On Thursday, November 19th, all 8th graders at LVMS will have the opportunity to take the PSAT test. The PSAT test is intended to be a college readiness test that sets a baseline of student performance and allows students and teachers to pinpoint areas for focused practice as students progress through high school. Because the PSAT is in preparation for college entrance exams, the accommodations available for this test differ slightly from those offered on our state STAAR test. The accommodations of extended time, small group, large print, and transcribing will be available for students who have these accommodations in their current ARD or 504 paperwork.
For Remote Students - If you would like your child to take the PSAT test, please drop them off at the LVMS front office between 7:30 and 8:00 on Thursday, November 19th. They will need to wear a mask and have their temperature taken prior to entering the building. All testing supplies (pencils, calculators, etc.) will be provided for them. They will then be escorted to their testing location. When testing is complete, usually around lunchtime, your student will call to be picked up. If you will be unable to pick up your child, please call the front office at 512-267-8300x2500 as soon as possible to let us know so we can make other arrangements. Bus transportation will NOT be available for remote learners on this day.
If you have any questions about PSAT testing, please contact Mrs. Walker at kerri_walker@lagovista.txed.net or 512-267-8300x2502.

What Day Is It?
Help Keep Us Playing!
Masks!!
- Spectators, audiences, fans and media are required to wear face coverings as described in Executive Order GA-29.
- Groups should maintain at least six feet of distance from other groups at all times, including the process of admission and seating. A group is defined as no more than 10 people including the members of the household and those persons who traveled together to the facility.
UIL is very serious about these guidelines, and if we want to continue to play sports this year, we must take these to heart. Photos from different schools not following this guidance have already been circulating, which puts all of our programs at risk.
Please make sure to wear a mask at all times and respect social distancing.

Volleyball Wraps Up Great Season!
8 Gold:
Our 8 Gold team finished their season 9-0 to stay undefeated and win the district championship! I am so incredibly proud of these young ladies and continue to be in awe of their hard-work, dedication, and energy for the game. These ladies fought hard all season. They learned to trust in each other and built a camaraderie that was unbeatable. It was an amazing season with an amazing group of girls.
Leading the team to victory against Bandera was Amelia Robinson with 10 kills, followed by Melanie Sansom with 4, and Emily Jungman with 3. Our leading server was Amelia Robinson with 9 points, followed by Kanon Yetley with 7 and Madison Kassell with 6. Sydney Hiebert and Madison Kassell led our team in assists. Mikayla Vasquez was our leading passer followed by Lana Spedale, both with incredible digs. Look for these athletes to make a huge impact next year at the high school level. They will move on to do incredible things.
7th Gold:
The 7th Gold lost another tough 3 setter against Bandera last Thursday evening to end their season. The ladies got off to another torrid start running away with the first set 25-20. Unfortunately they weren’t able to sustain that momentum losing the final 2 sets to drop their final match of the season. Despite not winning as many games as we wanted this past season these young ladies showed up everyday with great attitudes, ready to work and get after it in practice. I’m very proud of how much they learned this season. This group is going to take big steps next season! These young ladies gave me everything they had over the course of the season and as their coach I couldn’t ask for anything better. I can’t wait to watch them continue to grow and improve as they continue their athletic careers. Members of the 7th Gold team: Alisen Shipp, Ania Saldana, Makenna Fiscus, Avi Ramirez, Haley Wray, Mackenzie Koska, Madelyn Salazar, Jaedyn Hylander, Caeley Carmack, Camilla Cardenas.
