Book Week Highlights!

Glenealy School Book Week has come and gone and was a huge success! It was fantastic to see all the students so excited about books!

The library was a hive of activity every day. Students were meeting Authors, entering competitions, having fun swapping books at the Book Swap, shopping for books at the Bookazine Book Fair, listening to teachers reading and enjoying all the buzz!

And it was all capped off with the Book Week Character Parade!

Author Visits

We had a total of four Authors visit us during Book Week! It was great to hear from a variety of authors who write children's book, non-fiction work and articles for magazines.
Details below...

Sarah Brennan

Sarah spent the whole day on Tuesday and read her enchanting story -"Sybil Snake". Sarah got her inspiration for this story from the Chinese legend of Lady White Snake and from the only female Emperor of China, Wu Zetian.
Sarah read with great enthusiasm and made the story come to life! Her books were available for students to order at a discounted price and signed copies should arrive back at school this week or next.
Thanks to the PTA for generously sponsoring Sarah's visit. The library has Sarah's books and they are available for students to borrow.

Book Week Character Dress-Up Parade

Children and staff really went to town on outfits for our Book Week finale - our character parade!

Students paraded and showed off all the wonderful costumes they had made. Also, a big thank you to the PTA for providing coffee on the morning of the parade!

A slideshow below highlights the fun!

Bookazine Book Fair

Thank you to all the students, parents and teachers who purchased books during the Bookazine Book Fair. The students were so excited to shop for books independently and were delighted with their purchases. It was really great to see and hear all the excitement around books.

The sale was an amazing success and an incredible result for our library.

Thanks to your generosity, Bookazine sold $60,700 worth of books! Bookazine had originally offered to donate 15% of the proceeds ($9,100) to the library, however, they have generously rounded up well above this - donating a grand total of $10,000 worth of books to Glenealy Library!

We look forward to purchasing fabulous new books for the library and thank you and Bookazine very much for your support. Photos below...

Book Swap - led by the Glenealy Green Team

The Green Team led the Book Swap during Book Week. It was a huge success! Every lunch time, the queue for the book swap seemed to get a little longer! Children really got into the spirit and bought lots of books to change.

Many thanks to Mrs. Sexton and the Glenealy Green Team students for running the book swap!

Congratulations to the winners of the "Guess Who's Reading" competition. They were:
