Book Week Highlights!
The library was a hive of activity every day. Students were meeting Authors, entering competitions, having fun swapping books at the Book Swap, shopping for books at the Bookazine Book Fair, listening to teachers reading and enjoying all the buzz!
And it was all capped off with the Book Week Character Parade!

Sarah Brennan
Sarah read with great enthusiasm and made the story come to life! Her books were available for students to order at a discounted price and signed copies should arrive back at school this week or next.
Thanks to the PTA for generously sponsoring Sarah's visit. The library has Sarah's books and they are available for students to borrow.
Tony Banhan
Tony worked with Year 6. He took the students through various scenarios across 8 different writing genres, including: film script, radio script, police report, novel, history, newspaper articles, comedy and ghost stories. Tony is the founder of the Hong Kong War Diary Project and has published several research books on the Hong Kong experience during the Second World War.
Mio Debnan
Mio spent time with Year 5 talking about writing non-fiction text types. She discussed her research techniques in writing her popular KidsGo! Travel guides and answered student questions. Mio explained how she was able to publish her work and gave advice on topics to write about. Mio's website is kidsgotravelguides.com
Paul McGuire
Paul had sessions with Year 3, Year 4 and Year 6. He read one of his short stories for children published by Oxford University Press. He also talked about how he writes articles for newspapers and magazines and shared his experience test driving cars then writing reviews on them for Baccarat Magazine.
Book Week Character Dress-Up Parade
Students paraded and showed off all the wonderful costumes they had made. Also, a big thank you to the PTA for providing coffee on the morning of the parade!

Bookazine Book Fair
The sale was an amazing success and an incredible result for our library.
Thanks to your generosity, Bookazine sold $60,700 worth of books! Bookazine had originally offered to donate 15% of the proceeds ($9,100) to the library, however, they have generously rounded up well above this - donating a grand total of $10,000 worth of books to Glenealy Library!
We look forward to purchasing fabulous new books for the library and thank you and Bookazine very much for your support. Photos below...

Reading with your child...
Kids - become a famous illustrator!
To illustrate her 3rd book, Cosmos the Curious Whale, author, Gail Clarke invites all primary school students (Year 1 - Year 6) to draw and colour a tropical fish. More than 300 of the most original and colourful entries will be included in the book! The young artists whose pictures are chosen will receive a printed certificate and will be acknowledged on the inside book cover and on Gail’s brand-new website (www.gailclarkeauthor.com).

About Gail Clarke
Gail Clarke enjoyed more than 35 years as a primary school teacher before retiring to Italy. These days she finds herself traveling more than ever to visit family and friends living all around the world. Her personal migrations are the inspiration for her animal migration stories. As a planet-ambassador, she is also deeply passionate about wildlife protection and the environment.Gail recently came to read her book "Searching for Skye - An Arctic Tern Adventure" to Year 4 students.
