Meet Your Campus Tech
The information included in this newsletter will guide you with helpful resources that can be used throughout the school year. If you are new to the online environment, I am here to help you through this transition. Please refer back to this newsletter throughout the school year, because I will keep it updated.
Technology Issues & Help
I am happy to help with any questions concerning the equipment, network issues, requests for setting up equipment, fix any broken equipment, or any other technology issues on campus.
If you have a technology request or need anything fixed, please email me at stanley.bell@killeenisd.org. Please do not stop me in the hallway, send students to my office with sticky notes, text me, or call me over the walkie!
Staff may also ask for technology help by submitting a HEAT ticket. Click here to go directly to HEAT Self Service, or you can email heat.helpdesk@killeenisd.org and a ticket will be made automatically with your message.

- If you are experiencing technical difficulties, can't log in, can't connect to the internet, applications freeze up, or not receiving emails, then restart your computer. You will hear me ask you this every time you tell me about a technology issue. 9 times out of 10 it usually fixes the issue.
- Instead of saving all of your files on the desktop of computer, invest in a Google Drive. Google Drive is free and starts you with 15 GB of free Google storage, so you can keep pictures, stories, designs, drawings, recordings, videos – anything. You can quickly invite others to view, download, and collaborate on all the files you want–no email attachment needed. Click here to go to Google Drive.
Internet & Email Safety
There is always an increase in phishing scams (an effort to mislead, deceive, or manipulate you in an effort to get your personal information) and internet crimes around the summer and holiday months. It is critical that you ignore these types of requests and never click on links in these types of messages.
You can also rest assured that no one in the Technology Services team or a Nigerian Prince has left you a gazillion dollars in some foreign bank that is easily accessed. You can count on the fact that these non-existent funds will not be made available to you after you send a check, wire or transfer funds, or provide your banking information. It simply really is to good to be true.
A few 'best practices' for you to keep in mind:
- Your KISD technology services team will not ask you for your password or any other personal information via e-mail.
- Your banking institution will not ask you for your username and password through e-mail. If you are ever in doubt, call your branch office at the number you know to be accurate. Do not trust a number that is provided in an e-mail requesting information.
- Neither KISD's Technology Services or your banking institution will ask you for your social security number or your date of birth through e-mail.
- No credible businesses or services such as your bank, your doctor, non-profit organizations your contribute to and others will not ever ask you to send in your personal information be replying to an e-mail or by submitting this information by clicking on a link.
