Fashion Design for felt-makers
April 24-26, 2015 by feltmaker SheverDUSHKA
Patternmaking, Draping and Fashion Design Basis for felt-makers by Tatiana Sheverda aka SheverDUSHKA, a 3days course at atelier Fiberfusing in the Netherlands. Tatiana Sheverda aka SheverDUSHKA is a Russian born fashion/textile designer living in Australia, well known for her use of nuno-felt in combination with various shibori techniques, bold designs and strong colours.
She will teach basic patternmaking and draping techniques applicable to felt, help participants develop personal patterns and blocks. Also participants will learn fundaments of fashion design and editing, such as colour combinations and silhouettes for felt-makers aiming to create high-end fashion product.
This is a wonderful chance to meet Tatiana, learn her unique fashion sense and obtain some highly useful technical fashion knowledge and skills http://moodychameleon.blogspot.nl/
The class is about fashionable silhouettes and style, not just simple or traditional ones.
Tatiana will bring over as much patterns as she can, old and new, simple and more complicated.
BUT! One of the main idea of this MC is about teaching participants to be able to develop their own patterns, not just trace hers around! The trick is within very short period of time to give them basic understanding how patternmaking works, what are tricks and how to develop more complicated patterns based on simple standard templates. How to grade! How to drape as a pattern-developing technique! How to do fittings!
All of those things, most of feltmakers are unfamiliar with. And those that Tatiana is getting very good feed-back about and interest from feltmakers Down Under. Because the way she does and explain her patternmaking is different from traditional "molding" techniques used by others.
We will be concentrating on developing patterns for jackets/coats as most complicated ones. But skirts, dresses will be on the list too. Tatiana sews her garments by hand. So, she would prefer participants do the same. We are to learn how to develop patterns for realistically-shaped ladies of different sizes and proportions
