Eagle Edition #28 - 2022-23
May 5, 2023
Happy Friday, Eagles!
- TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK MAY 8-12
- Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We'd love to have all of our students and families participate in honoring our amazing teachers at Anderson & McGrath - if you're able to choose a day or two or all to participate, that would be wonderful!
- Monday - Write a kind and thankful note to your teacher
- Tuesday - Bring a sweet treat for your teacher
- Wednesday - Bring your teacher a flower
- Thursday - Bring in supplies your teacher might be running low on in class (pencils, kleenex, etc)
- Friday - Bring your teacher a favorite gift card
- 23-24 Student Placement Form
- Please take a few minutes to fill out this form about 23-24 Student Placement for each of your 23-24 Anderson/McGrath elementary students. Thank you!
- SCHOOL & BUS APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE
- We sent out a letter a few weeks back regarding school appropriate language. We want to continue to encourage your family to have conversation about how to talk, interact, and engage with others at school and on the bus.
- Please remember that riding the school bus is a privilege, not a right. If students misbehave on the school bus they will be removed from riding. Students need to use appropriate language and actions on the school bus.
- We will be continuing to have conversations about this at school with students as well.
- CAUGHT YA BEING GREAT CONTEST
- Beginning Monday, April 27, students have the opportunity to receive a Caught Ya Being Great ticket for positive behavior interactions at school.
- When a student receives a ticket, they will bring that to the library for a treat.
- Once a week, several student tickets will be drawn to receive an additional small reward with the principal.
- At the end of the year, the student with the most tickets (one from each building) will get to be Principal for a Day! We are so excited to help recognize the positive behavior we are seeing every day from all of our students at Anderson & McGrath.
- MSTEP ASSESSMENT GRADES 3-5
- Our state MSTEP testing has begun. Teachers have been communicating any requests with classes - if you have any questions, please reach out to your student's teacher.
- Please make sure all student chrome books are charged - these assessments are conducted online.
- FACE MASKS
- We are no longer providing face masks in our offices. If your student needs to wear a face mask, they need to bring these in from home.
- PHONE POLICY
- Phones need to be turned off and in student backpacks or lockers until the school day has been completed. It is never acceptable for students to use phones in the bathroom at any time. Please see pages 13 & 14 in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for further clarification.
- GUEST TEACHERS
- We could really use some help adding in a few new guest teachers to our rotation at Anderson & McGrath! If you're interested, please visit this page for more information.
- CAMP INVENTION
- Please see the end of this newsletter for a flyer about Camp Invention this summer!
- GRAND BLANC SUMMER ARTS ACADEMY
- Please visit this website to learn more about the Summer Arts programs GB will have available for students.
- WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME
- Please read through this flyer for information on when to keep your student home from school.
- MORNING DROP OFF
- If it's past 8:50 AM when you drop off your student, you need to walk in to your building office and sign in your student. Thank you for your help in keeping all of our students and staff safe!
